It's really starting to look like Love and Mercy is having a great effect.

I was beginning to think that The Beach Boys's music was going to become kind of an afterthought to a generation.  Hopefully, the folks who are buying Sounds of Summer and 50 Big Ones and compelled to dig deeper into the catalog like I was a few years back.

yes, KDS, that is exactly how it happens, no matter what an individual may claim.

Sounds of Summer re-entered the Billboard chart as a result of a stellar 8 date tour
across the pond earlier this summer.

- cheers

I was pretty content with my copies of Sounds of Summer and the companion Warmth of the Sun, along with a copy of Pet Sounds.

It was seeing the C50 show in 2012 that got me to start getting the rest of the catalog.

That's pretty much what happened to me.

I was a casual fan, who would spin the greatest hits in the summertime, but that's about it.

After seeing them in 2012, that all changed.

It's nice to see this circular thing occur with Beach Boys music. I believe that the movie, the two bands touring and the fact that they draw from across generations keeps the music alive. It's like rediscovering something happy and simple from earlier in life.

I believe its worth buying '50 Big Ones' JUST for the mix of Darlin'  (and the single mix of 'Isn't It Time')

By the way its at No 82 on the chart

Hi Rob, except that this Darlin' mix has the missing "Arlin'" that was later corrected on Made In California.

That's incredible. It proves that the music of the BBs really is timeless...

Great to see. The thread title led me to believe that half of the top 100 this week was made up of Beach Boys songs  Shocked

That would've been cool.  I'd rather listen to Summer in Paradise on loop over most of what's on the current hit singles chart.

Very much doubt that Joe Q. Public even knew of the UK tour, much less how well received it was. Coincidentally, the movie hit the screens shortly before said album returned to the charts.

So, you're saying a tour in a country some 3500 miles away was the reason for an album returning to the lower reaches of the Billboard 200 ?

Seriously ?  Grin

200 is total sales, including downloads: album sales is purely physical sales. Simples !

Doesn't a BBs' comp break into the Top 100 nearly every Summer?

Not to sh*t in anybody's Corn Flakes, but there are quite a few old albums in the Billboard Top 200 now, some 20 years or older. Nature of the game right now.  I wish there was raw data on how many each album sold to get to that position, though....curious, as the new Fear 2 Stop album debuts in 2 weeks *cheap plug*

Rob, I feel I need to apologise. My post was on topic, contained useful, accurate information and wasn't a mindless diatribe aimed at any given group member. Really, what kind of fan am I ?  Shocked
