Anybody here dig The-Dream? I know a lot of people here hate on auto-tune and a number hate on anything on modern radio, but I think The-Dream is actually a pretty good fit for open-minded Beach Boys fans. He has an uncanny pop-sensibility and seemingly never-ending supply of catchy melodies and fun left turns, plus his use of background vocals, that he overdubs himself, make me think that he's a guy to watch.

Give this dude some hallucinogens and a copy of Pet Sounds and I bet we get a masterpiece.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGcQgUnxY14 "Love King" certainly has a California Girls esque set of lyrics

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIouafdajdQ "FILA (Fall In Love Again)"

He's also been behind a crazy amount of hits Rihanna's "Umbrella", Beyonce's "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1Yt0xJKDY8&ob=av2e Mariah Carey's "Obsessed"

Anyway, just wondered if anyone else was feeling this guy ...

Hell yeah! His first album is a straight up classic album. No bad songs to be found on that one. Great harmonies, cool original song ideas, and killer production. The way he segues the songs into each other is pretty genius.

He was bigger around 2007 - 2008, but his influence as a songwriter (and LOS / Tricky's influence on the production side) can still be heard all over the place.

This is one of my favorites (it's worth seeking out the high quality version): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eG5EDWCWqSI

Good call! I might have to get into that first album again while we're waiting for TWGMTR!

Well, I listened to the songs in those links you provided and I didn't like any of them. I didn't hear anything catchy or inventive about them at all, which is weird, considering you said he was responsible for that Rihanna hit "Umbrella," which I will say was a pretty good little pop song, if I remember correctly (been a couple of years).
