His gentle voice is just so calming. It's almost like a Bob Ross type of effect. I think Carl's voice and demeanor could induce ASMR in people who are capable of feeling it.
Great clip, thanks so much for sharing. You know Carl's ASMR skills are also showcased in Smiley Smile's Wonderful (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SQQD-WPbHk). You should start an All American Bandstand Appearances thread. It's cool to watch them change through the ages while Dick Clark pretty much stays the same! Brian looks great and even relaxed, promoting an album he had very little to do with.
I enjoy most of L.A. but I don't understand how anyone could think performing Sumahama on TV would be a good idea. That particular episode of AB was a US/Japan episode that had both American and Japanese acts. Maybe they should've played Good Timin' as the 2nd song in order to 'Brian things up' a little. All these clips are lip-synced and the vocals date back to 15 years previously. Truly odd decision making back in the days. Were people really that thrilled to hear the exact Help Me Rhonda clip from their LPs with the aging band miming along? How did AB draw any viewers with this shite? It predated MTV, so seeing your favorite artists "perform" on TV was likely a thrill back then. |
