So you have the house to yourself and fancy a album from the boys up loud but don't know what. A bit like going out to eat and opting for a burger. For me, if all else fails its 'Pet Sounds' or 'Knebworth'. Anyone else have a cop-out album? (Sorry if this reads like something from another site. )

It's all about Love You for sure, especially if we're talkin' the kind of album you can put on loud and dance around goofy-like to!

Gotta be Wild Honey. The down-home white boy R&B and pre-Love You quirkiness just hits the spot every time for me.

There are people who have taken LSD thousands of times and are as sane as Jeff Foskett. Well, that's a bad example, because Jeff hates Love You and that's INSANE.

For studio recordings I have to go with Wild Honey. I Was Made To Love Her and Here Comes The Night sound best when played loudly. For concert recordings it'a a toss up between the 1973 In Concert or Knebworth 1980, particularly the live version of Lady Lynda. Cranking up that acapella part at the end is really cool. Philadelphia 1980 is good, too.

I too have to go with Love You for the most part. But I very often go for the sound board live box of 93. These days, with playlists and all, I seldom play a single isolated lp straight through. Just too easy to put together various favorite compilations. Like snacking out of the fridge; A taste of this, a taste of that, depending on the craving.

To the chagrin of the elitists, I suggest Endless Summer would have to be considered.

I love several BB albums - and even the other ones get an occasional spin by me - but the (commercially released) cd that I play the most is CATP: So Tough. The others (Smiley, Love You, LA, Sunflower, Friends, etc.) I have to be in the mood for but So Tough hits the spot every time. Plus nobody else complains about it when I'm playing it to non-BB nerds like ourselves.

The cool thing about CATP is that you can play it to non BB nerds and they probably have no idea that they are listening to the Beach Boys.
