The line up for the Isle of Wight festival, Bestival has been announced with rapper Public Enemy confirmed as taking to the stage on September 9.

The announcement came through festival organiser and Radio 1 DJ, Rob da Bank who mistakenly tweeted the news on Tuesday evening.

Rob da Bank said: “Oops just seem to have let it slip that public enemy are comin to bestival as a festi exclusive.”

Bestival takes place on the island between September 8 and 11 this year at the Robin Hill County Park an already Primal Scream and The Cure have been announced as headlining acts for the event.

Other acts also confirmed include Robyn, Crystal Castles, Magnetic Man, DJ Shadow, Katy B and for a real blast from the past there will be Brian Wilson from the Beach Boys.
The theme for the festival this year has also been revealed to be “Rock Stars, Pop Stars and Divas” so I guess it's time to dig out those platform boots and feather boas as the fancy dress parade for the event has become a huge tradition.

Rob da Bank said: “Dressing up and escapism has always been a big part of Bestival and our faithful crew are mega inventive to the point of eccentricity! This years theme of Rock Stars, Pop Stars and Divas should give everyone enough ideas to really let rip with some outrageous, weird and downright flamboyant outfits. There are no excuses!”

He added: “Having said that, I hope everyone doesn't take it too literally – I'd love to see some Frank Zappas, Captain Beefhearts, Skream and Bengas or a Karen Carpenter as much as the better known faces. This has got to be a great opportunity for some group action too! Personally, it's a toss up between Dolly Parton and Prince.”
