How does "Little Girl" = "Sunshine"

So I know early on in the
KTSA
sessions, Brian started recording a cover of The Crystals "Little Boy" entitled "Little Girl". And apparently then they (Bruce?) decided that Mike and Brian would add new lyrics and a new melody---the melody apparently based on "Smokey Places" by the Corsairs. Anyways, I have listened to "Little Girl" and "Sunshine' and I don't hear any of that driving track of "Little Girl" in "Sunshine". The chords sound that same but thats it. I don't hear any other parts of "Little Girl" that correlate to "Sunshine", which has more of a syncopated reggae type feel. Can somebody explain to me exactly what part of "Little Girl" is used in "Sunshine".
And yes, I know it sucks that I had to listen to "Sunshine" to be able to ask this question, because that song is
horrid
. They should have just finished "Little Girl" as is, because Carl sounded great on it, and it was a good track produced by Brian.

Surprisingly, I've never heard Little Girl.
Equally as surprising, Sunshine's my 2nd favorite cut on the album.

I like the fact that Brian, Mike, and Carl all seem super into the singing on the song. But it just doesn't have that spark good Brian material usually has. Same for basically all his material on
KTSA

Bruce told me, some five years after the sessions, that to get the basic track for "Sunshine" they copied the short track they had for "Little Girl" a few times, got the splicing tape & razor blades out and bingo !
Now you know.

Sunshine reminds me of Shortenin Bread, not that it sounds like it at all...it just sounds like a riff or something that Brian would prolly obsess over and play over and over again....the song kinda does that anyways.

Interestingly, they also cut a version of "Smokey Places" during those sessions.

I can see a melodic resemblance in places in Carl's vocal on Little Girl compared to Sunshine, the bit where he goes 'way-ay-ay'.
Bruce I think should be given greater credit for pulling the BBs together at this time, if he could turn this into a track for Sunshine.
I'd like to hear a 2CD expanded '79-80 sessions of all these little unfinished or unreleased pieces. Any chance...?

"Sunshine" is the perfect example of Brian's preferred way of playing bass riffs for songs in the late 70s.
