So are there any projecs in the can for release considering its the 50th ann. from the beach boys in december 31st 2011. I think there are enough songs in the vaults from the 70, 80's and some from the 90's .

No

I think that this is a market mistake. This is the time for Capitol, Warners and CBS tot release the songs the boys recorded and were paid for but never saw the light.
If not releasing it on cd than release it digital as a download for say $1 p. song. I think they could use bbcentral for this finnaly.

Warners and CBS (the latter is now Sony) don't hold the rights to any BBs material, released or unrleased.  Capitol has exclusive license for anything they recorded 1962-1969, and for awhile there at least they were also given the rights to all the stuff that was released after that (hence all the remastered albums appearing on the Captiol label in 2000).  My understanding is that Brother owns all the unrelased stuff from 1970 on, and could do whatever they want with them...which is why the idea of beachboyscentral.com made so much sense when it was announced.

But it seems that Mike for one isn't interested in releasing that kind of stuff. He said so in an interview awhile ago iirc

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Understanably, this is downright silly.
We organize, rush the doors, and borrow every tape there is! Copy them to the internet and return them before they can book the ringleaders. If we co-ordinate this well, we can hit the capitol and Brother Vaults at the same time, to really thro them off guard.
We'll actually be doing the BBs a favor, especially if we relase a 50th Anniversary Manifesto to announce the downloading location for all the tracks.

I'd expect nothing less than another collection of hits with the word "Summer" somewhere in the album's title and at least two new stereo mixes of previously-issued tracks.

I don't mean to play devil's advocate, but I hope you know BRI reads this forum, so you pretty much just threw your friend and your friend's source under the bus...

Hello BRI!

Heres my wish list seen your reading this. Smile boxset and a extended 'Endless Harmony' style DVD. Keep an eye on Stamos and his musical. A nice book would be a bonus.

Thanks for your concern.

There are several projects brewing. Not a "big secret," but that's all there is to say right now.
