This has probably been done [many times] before, but just in case anyone has updated their tastes since the last "your favorites" thread:

What are your top 5 favorite albums and your top 5 favorite songs?

interesting you chose In the Back the my Mind (backing track). It is rather good....heck, that whole side! Kiss Me baby's instrumental is killer too.

Electric Light Orchestra's Out of the Blue

I'll not post any BB's/ too 'canon' choices either, as it'd probably be a fight between Pet Sounds, Smile, Friends, Surf's Up and Love You Grin

Instead, here's a list I might well regret in a few days, but in no particular order.....

1) Spiritualized - Ladies & Gentlemen, We Are Floating In Space
2) NEU! - NEU! 75
3) Isaac Hayes - Hot Buttered Soul/The Isaac Hayes Movement (impossible to pick between the record with the jaw-dropping 'By The Time I Get To Phoenix' or the record with the most rid-god-damn-diculous Beatles cover ever on it)
4) The Jesus & Mary Chain - Psychocandy
5) Judee Sill - Heart Food/Judee Sill (Again, two records I can't decide between. Heart Food is better, but the selftitled is too damn good to not listen to. This woman is close to godlike in my eyes - Beautifully slack California voice, huge baroque arrangements, beautiful songs...)

BTW, I'd like to mention a couple notes about these last two albums.
One, All Things must Pass is produced by Spector and his amazing Wall of Sound, a great follow up to all his singles from the 'Back to Mono' box set.
The other thing I'd like to mention is if you're a Beatles fan, do check out Klaatu, there's an interesting story behind their existence in which many were convinced this was the Beatles in the 70s, that's a pretty good testament. Their album 'Sir Amry Suit' just happens to be one of my fav albums by them.

Back when the board was first getting started there was a Gainsbourg thread on here (my own) that was, until the vocal credits thread overtook it, the thread with the most posts on the forum. It never really went anywhere after mid-2006. Problem is that a good English Gainsbourg forum is a hard thing to find...

I feel like Echoes is highly underrated...it's one of my favs of Floyd.
I love to play it for friends who only really know Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall (hard to believe, I know)...they always respond: "isn't this from Dark Side?"  Grin

IMHO Echoes is Pink Floyd's ultimate accomplishment.

Some live versions kick a little more ass than the Meddle version. but still......
