Billy Hinsche, a member of The Beach Boys touring band for more than 25 years,
will screen his film ‘1974 - On the Road with The Beach Boys’
at the 2010 Pawtucket, RI Arts Film Festival.

The screening will take place on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 2:30 pm and 7:00 pm
at the Blackstone Valley Visitor Center, 175 Main Street in Pawtucket, RI.

Hinsche will also conduct a Q&A and perform an acoustic set following each screening.

Tickets are $10 and includes a catered reception and autograph session with Hinsche.

The screening is co-sponsored by Providence, RI’s Big Noise and The Comfort Inn in Pawtucket, RI.

An after-party and jam session with Hinsche will be held at The Comfort Inn,

(so bring your acoustic instruments).

Hinsche’s ‘On the Road‘ was filmed on location during the Beach Boys’ April and May tours of 1974,
and features core original members Mike Love, Carl Wilson, Dennis Wilson, Al Jardine, and Ricky Fataar,
with appearances by backing band members Hinsche, Ed Carter, Carli Muñoz, Bobby Figueroa,
manager Jim Guercio, and others.

Never before had cameras been allowed into the very private world of the touring Beach Boys
quite like this - until now. This exclusive footage was shot using the very first portable video camera
(called a Portapak) by UCLA graduate Hinsche, who takes you on a whirlwind romp through several
days and nights of being up-close and-personal with ‘you are there’ scenes of life on the road
with the group that Rolling Stone magazine named ‘Band of the Year’ for 1974. Songs in the film include
Beach Boys classics ‘The Trader,’ ‘Long Promised Road’ and ‘Marcella.’

You'll hear conversations among the band members (sometimes with the aid of subtitles so you don't
miss a single word), be a part of the backstage shenanigans, listen in on plans for tour logistics and
strategy, have a ringside seat at the hysterical madcap backgammon game called ‘The Match,’ and
take a ride in the cockpit of the Beach Boys' private plane, where you will watch the takeoff sitting
in the jump seat of the charter aircraft.

If you think you've seen all the Beach Boys footage there is to see, you'll be delighted to know there
is one more film to add to your wish list. This is a documentary that stands alone with its unique
perspective, insight and just plain fun - ‘1974’ will rock you!

Just had a conversation with Al, who is organizing this in conjunction with the Providence Arts commission or whoever it is.  He has got SUCH a great event planned - this is going to be a lot of fun!!
