Brian asked Jim how his radio show can be broadcast to so many cities.

I just listened to the Jim Bohannon show, even though I should be working. It was mostly people calling in to say how much they love the Beach Boys and have fond memories that go with the music, but it seemed like Brian enjoyed hearing that very much. He sounded particularly delighted when a man who was "almost 80" and "from the big band era" called in and asked Brian if he had ever seen the Four Freshmen live. A couple of Vietnam vets called in, too, to tell Brian how much the BBs had meant to the soldiers overseas.

Brian asked Jim how his radio show can be broadcast to so many cities. 

I'd like to propose that the reason Brian does that is to trademark the interview.

For instance, back in the day, writers didn't have copyrights or whatever, so they'd put something in a book to prove that they wrote it.  For instance in the gospel of Paul, (although he didn't write it, lol) it says "And I know these things to be true, for I was the apostle asleep on Jesus's shoulder at the last supper" or something to that effect, to prove that he wrote it.

Brian says something crazy in each interview, that ONLY HE could come up with, to prove that it's actually the one and only doing the interview, not some fraud imposter.

Brian does seem to genuinely be thankful for his fans.  Not in a 'here, let me give you an autograph way' but in a 'he gets a huge smile on his face' way.  I think he's still kind of in awe of it even to this day that people remember who he is.

Heh. Had me in stitches. Next time he'll ask: hey, this is radio, I know, when are they gonna invent a box that can show moving pictures?

Magic Transistor Radio. He's definitely from a different era. "Hey, how much does an iPod cost?" At least he's heard of iPods! But it makes me sad that his management doesn't realize the marketing potential of the Internet, beyond getting Brian a Twitter account.

He just did an hour on Facebook, after all. The AOL Spinner music blog got an exclusive on the album's launch day. There was an MSN exclusive too, and he's did a sitdown with Pitchfork for TLOS.

gotta surprising, but in that interview.  Srsly one of the first times i can hear 1960's Brian voice.  In the way he's speaking and even just the sound.  cause i also feel he's sounded like a completely different person since the 70's.

You know, I was just thinking exactly the same thing. Clear, relaxed, conversant and articulate- Brian was certainly on good form. I also love how he sounds genuinely grateful when people tell him how much he/his music means to them. Really enjoyed listening to this.

I too enjoyed the interview.  I think it went well because the host anticipated any pauses or discomfort, rephrased some comments and questions of the guests, and was suportive and reassuring to Brian.  Also, this wasn't a straight up interview but a call in so there were three people in the q and a , not just Brian facing an interviewer.  His short answers worked in this format.  Unlike the Terri Gross/Fresh Air  interview a few years back.  Also, I like to think maybe Brian has hit a sort of stride with this phase of his career.  When I saw him last Fall he was more self assured and in control than I'd ever witnessed.

Yes. There were a few moments of confusion, but the host clearly knew who he was dealing with. There were no "yes or no" questions. It was more like, "Do you think X or Y," and Brian would have to answer X or Y. And the host was very good at being the mediator between Brian and the callers.

I just mean letting him release songs on the Internet and stuff. Like on his Web site. In one interview he talked about how the music insutry is dead and there's no market anymore. But it's possible to do well if you hustle on the Internet.
