Fascinating - they must have changed the rules again. Used to be, two years in the Top 200 albums then into the Catalog chart.

Nope, belay that - it's also #3 in the Catalog chart. Color me confussed.

Later: ah, God bless Wikipedia -

"Starting with the issue dated December 5, 2009, however, the catalog limitations which removed albums over 18 months old, that have dropped below position 100 and have no currently-running single, from the Billboard 200 was lifted, turning the chart into an all-inclusive list of the 200 highest-selling albums in the country (essentially changing Top Comprehensive Albums into the Billboard 200). A new chart that keeps the previous criteria for the Billboard 200 (dubbed Top Current Albums) was also introduced in the same issue."

I remember the good ol' days when there was just the one chart.  This means more work for me. Joy. Undecided

Billboard has changed its chart rules more in the past decade than it had probably in its entire prior existence!  But this is a change that I support.  Old albums should definitely be allowed to chart if they sell enough.

Glad to hear that out of all the hundreds of thousands of different albums out there, The Beach Boys are still able to chart that high in 2010!

A testament to the durability of the material and reaffirming that they are THE sunshine band.

Color me confussed.
If I may ever-so-briefly swerve off-topic, I want to take the opportunity to note that "confussed" shall forever remain among my favorite, uh, words. Its only challenger may be "responiblety," to which I was introduced in a senior-year (high school) English class.

I'm very certain Andrew misspelled it that way on purpose, as it was a classic (Blueboard, was it?) character's spelling. I wasn't pointing out the typo itself, which I'd assume was obvious. Thanks for the dancing face and sarcasm, though.

And nothing pleases me like putting a smile on other people's faces, making the pleasure all mine. Or at least shared. It was nice sharing pleasure with you.

Indeed. Waaay back in the misseds of time (you see what I did there ?), when the Bloo actually was blue, there was a female poster who invariably spelled it that way - and no, it wasn't jeannie, astonishingly - and it caught on. These days, I don't think anyone there remembers it, but it amused me enough to ensure it lives on.

Yeah, I still remember her from those days.  What was her name?  Jennica or something like that.  She would be confussed quite often.

No... Jennica was amusing in her constant state of confussion. Bluebird was, and is, a lying bitch who sees nothing wrong in scamming fellow fans out of hundreds of dollars of cash as well as lying through her teeth about how she and Brian are best buddies. I've asked. She's a complete fantasist.

Hiya, me asking you guys to do my job for me again.  Grin

Anyone have the subsequent figures for SOS after it re-entered the Top 200 albums ? It's not there now (and if I'd know the whole Top 200 was available on the Billboard site, I'd have kept track myself... but I didn't. So I didn't.)

Again, many thanks.

For those on the edge of their seats... it was just one week at #103.

Y'know, sometimes I think it's time to take up stamp collecting.  Grin

Actually, that site is precious - just discovered you can pull up any chart position for any artist, and of course, there are some re-entries I missed. Guess what I'm doing this morning... :-)

[Later] Such a geek am I that I've also added the country chart figures for Stars & Stripes - actually, they're not too shabby considering the standing of The Beach Boys in the country music world !
