Marvin Isley, bass player with The Isley Brothers died Sunday aged 56, from complications arising from diabetes.

If there's a better summer song than their long version of "Summer Breeze", I've yet to hear it.

I agree - great song from a classic album ("3 + 3").   Sad news indeed.

I was a huge fan of that 3 plus 3 period ("Brother, Brother Brother", "Live it Up", "Fight the Power" also) and you are right about "Summer Breeze". Those albums were a big part of my mid-70s soundtrack.   A tremendous second act from a great American group.  Three brothers then two more brothers and a cousin right?  Anyway, Marvin Isley laid down a great bottom in the rhythm section.

I know Marvin was a big guy.  Diabetes runs in my family -- we're good eaters.
