I'd love to see your track  list.  I have been in the process recently of compiling a multi CD set too - I like the GV box, but have always felt it could have been improved.

OK, read it. Well done, it's a good read. Coupla points, though:

1 - Alan didn't leave to go to dental school (details here: http://www.esquarterly.com/bellagio/Beginning.html), and on his return, David wasn't forced out - he quit of his own volition.

2 - "Fun x3" was largely (if not exclusively) the band: the first BB track to heavily feature the sessions guys (and gal) was "Why Do Fools Fall In Love ?"

A few other instant corrections...you have David Marks leaving as of the Surfer Girl LP, he in fact was there through the Little Deuce Coupe LP sessions. Also the Wrecking Crew did not completely take over on either Fun Fun Fun or I Get Around, as the BB's were in fact on those sessions as musicians and were augmented or overdubbed by a Wrecking Crew person or two.

On that last point, Andrew...I think the 45 version of "Be True To Your School" beat it by a couple of months at least.  Smiley

I HIGHLY recommend reading through as many of the posts on this forum as humanly possible, as I believe you'll find a lot of things you thought you knew about the boys is WAYYYY off. At least that's been my  experience over the last 4 or 5 years. Good Luck!

Excellent point - I'd love to see the AFM sheet for that !

Come to that, I'd love to see ANY AFM sheets for the Beach Boys sessions in 1963 between June 12th and October 20th (that is, the Surfer Girl and Little Deuce Coupe albums)... but they're curiously absent.  Roll Eyes
