Just heard that Laurie Klobas passed away some two weeks ago. For those who don't know the name, she was a huge BB/BW fan who ran Break Away, Brian's fan club in the late 90s, and she ran it damn well (when she was allowed to: when she stepped down, it all went to sh*t). She was a great person, and a true friend to Brian when he sorely needed one. She will be greatly missed.

Lauri was a central figure in Brian's re-emergence. She did an astonishingly good job with the fan club, and it's clear she and Brian got along. I guess her departure from the inner circle was contentious, and I don't recall her interacting with fans after her departure, but I hope she knew how appreciated she was.

I did not know Lauri, but I did know that she was an important link in all things Brian Wilson and Beach Boys. A good soul.
