From sources over the years and posts like these, it's been thrown out there that Let Him Run Wild and Guess I'm Dumb are pure examples of Burt Bacharach's influence on Brian. And obviously, Brian's covers of Walk on By (wished he finished it!) and Little Red Book, he was quite fond of the guy. At the time, I had heard Little Red Book was a Smiley recording (which is now denied and was actually recorded in 68, I believe, or I could be thinkin of something else). But it kind of sounded like something from that Smiley/organ heavy era, listening to the original, I kind of wished Brian would have included more than just a piano, but then again, it was just a demo. Another song I think that are Bacharach influenced would be Let's Go Away for a While (but then again, I feel like that song itself influenced Burt's Nikki and Pacific Coast Highway). I'm sure Burt's work with girl groups also influence Brian's work with the Honeys and other girl groups like The Shirelles' Baby It's You, Dusty Springfield's Wishin' and Hopin', and Dionne Warwick's Don't Make Me Over.

I feel like Brian's production on Pet Sounds was alone a top influence of Bacharach's. I've heard he freaked when he heard the album. How did this not influence Burt (let alone Spector) to start making albums. Perhaps Burt did make some albums, and his soundtracks are fantastic. But with the albums I've heard, they seem to be combination of singles he's worked with within groups and a couple of 'one-offs'. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I misinterpret his albums. Maybe his albums weren't meant to be one complete/complex thought or idea, maybe that's not the influence Brian had on Burt, perhaps it was just the writing and the production style. In my opinion, his work on the Butch Cassidy soundtrack is a great album and working on various themes.

I'd love to hear what you guys think of when it comes to examples of their genius influencing each other.

"Well, you reached out to me too, David, and I'd be more than happy to fill Bgas's shoes. You don't need him anyway - some of us have the same items in our collections as he does and we're also much better writers. Spoiled brat....."
