Hi all!

Just wanted to write and let you all know that Van Dyke Parks is playing some concerts on the west coast in February, sharing the bill with the band Clare and the Reasons (http://www.frogstandrecords.com/clareandthereasons). The shows are in Seattle (The Triple Door) on Feb 9th, Portland (Mississippi Studios) on the 10th, San Francisco (Swedish American Hall) on the 12th, and Los Angeles (McCabe's) on the 14th!

I'd walk through broken glass (or failing that, hop on the tube) to see him if he did some London gigs..... Come on Van!

Good recent interview with Van Dyke at  SFGate.com.  He says he's not sure what he'll be performing:

Anyone else go to these shows? I went to the first two on the tour and they were GREAT!!! Not much from Song Cycle, just All Golden in Portland. But I nice mix of Van's material...not too far off from the Moonlighting album. Bill Frisell joined in in Seattle, and VDP said they are currently collaborating on a new album!!

Thank you. I like the middle one especially. I bet he's 'freely associating' again in his inimitable style... I recall him raising a glass of wine after his show in The Hague, 2008: 'first righteousness... then thirst!'.

This photo shows exactly how I remember him live in concert: a very likable writer, or professor...

Great to see young people my age at a VDP show....I wonder if their link to Van Dyke is BW...or the other way around?
