Allright, it's time again for one of my legendary Elvis-threads

As many of you have probably heard, today is Presley's 75th birthday and there's alot of good stuff happening this year. Since Sony took the rights from BMG for Elvis' catalogue they really seem to put out very good things, that do his legacy justice and not just another bunch of thrown together compilations. Sony seems to focus on the original albums Elvis put out. Last year we got the Legacy edition of "From Elvis in Memphis" which also featured his second American-album "Back in Memphis" plus many bonus tracks. This year there will be a Legacy-edition of the "On stage"-album and the legendary "In person"-album (in one set), which, hands down, is the greatest rock-livealbum ever (Jerry Lee comes in second). "On stage" comes close". And still later this year there will be a Legacy edition of Presley's first album (with the famous cover that The Clash imitated for "London calling").
And another great release: There are two (!) boxsets which both cover Elvis' whole carreer (
Good rockin' tonight and
Elvis75). One box is a 3-disc release the other one has 4 discs. Both featuring some hits and alot of forgotten (by the public) perles. See this video:

And if you don't like Elvis, just one look at Presley at his absolute peak as stage performer may change your mind:

BTW there's also a
25 track CD -version of the Elvis75 boxset.
