A version of Christmas Day is available as a new single by Al.  I found it at his website, where there is a video of it of Al performing it in 2004.  The single was apparently released on iTunes on 11/17/2009.  On Al's website it says the video is produced by Les Chan.

Speaking of Al, does anyone have any news of a release date for Postcard From California?

That's really bad that it's been out for about 3 weeks and it hasn't really been promoted at all, much like many of Al's shows aren't promoted.  I'm eager to purchase it, though!

So I went ahead and bought it...it's nice to have something new from Al, but to be honest, it sounds like an audio rip of the audience-filmed video that is available on his website.

BTW, there are also live recordings of Help Me Rhonda and California Girls from 2004 available on itunes and amazon too.  I'll probably purchase both, but it's kind of discouraging that the 30 second snippet of California Girls includes some flubbed lyrics.

It's a pretty muddy recording of a pretty underwhelming song.  Did they use a tape recorder for this?

Interesting how Al's website completely replaced the "Release Details Soon" message with a link to this song.  At least the site got an update...progress?

Wow... Al sounds really good singing the lead on California Girls.  The song actually really fits his voice.

Check out the Beach Boys Starline website, the place for pictures of many countries Beach Boys releases on 45.

They also say that H&V was (another) Jardine lead vocal... now unless he's spent the last 43 years perfecting the 3D spatialised overdubs of his unreleased lead vox for H&V, then i also doubt we'll see his solo album by Spring 2010 (spring ends June 20th). We have more of a chance of seeing a solo album by the members of Spring!!! (oh ha ha ha...)

"Spring 2010" sounds awfully vague, but I sure hope it does happen!
