Don't know if this works. Let's see:

for me, it is:

'G.G. Allin - Let It Go!!!', a 4-CD retrospective box set with the musical highlights of this respected and unique artist. Included are:

4 discs

A scratch 'n' sniff booklet with the complete story and many, many olfactory surprises

and: each numbered set includes personal artefacts by this man, scrupulously enclosed in clinically endorsed vials and sachets.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

No. I think I'd pass.

Wow, I hadn't thought about G.G. Allin for quite an amount of time. Just watched two (of four) parts of his final interview from a 1993 television talk show at youtube. Still weirdly entertaining...

I remember switching off the "Hated" documentary after just a few minutes, though. Hearing or reading about some of his more "eccentric" stage behaviour is one thing, but actually sitting through some of this footage (out of sheer sociological interest, of course) made me feel like sitting on a couch with Beavis and Butthead.

There are very few box sets that I want.

This is a pretty cool answer, Luther. I feel the same. I have:

Pere Ubu: Datapanik In The Year Zero (brilliant and definitive)
The Doo Wop Box Vol. 1 (on Rhino, essential)
Back To Mono (ditto)

and of course:

The Pet Sounds Sessions
Good Vibrations

That is it.

The only set I contemplate every now and then is There Is A Season, but that is because the Essential Byrds two-fer misses out on a few essential tracks. And I do love my 'Younger Than Yesterday' and '5th Dimensional' vinyl, as well as 'Sweetheart Of The Rodeo', so no complaints there.

The rest I do not want.

I have Good Vibes, PS sessions, Back To Mono, and The Velvet Underground one with loads of unreleased stuff on it. I've heard the Doo Wop box, it's incredible. Have you heard the second one?

All roads lead to Kokomo. Exhaustive research in time travel has conclusively proven that there is no alternate universe WITHOUT Kokomo. It would've happened regardless.

No, I don't. I got the first because it contains all the classics I know and love, and a bunch of goodies I never heard before. I heard though that the second one is equally good, although it has many more unknown tracks, by necessity. I will investigate as soon as the credit crunch is over.

Barenaked Ladies were supposed to put out a box set this year, but it's been unfortunately pushed back to 2010 so it doesn't compete for sales with their new album that's due next month.

"Disc one, it's well and begun, it's all my greatest hits.
And if you are a fan then you know that you've already got them.
Disc two, it was all brand new, an album's worth of songs.
But they had to leave the whole disc blank 'cause another label bought them.
Disc three, this is really me in a grade school play.
I had about a hundred thousand lines but I cussed and forgot them.
Disc four, never released before, and you can tell why.
It's just some demos I recorded in my basement.
Disc five, I was barely alive, I was hacking up a lung.
So they had to use a special computer as my replacement.
Disc six, a dance remix, you can catch the latest trends.
It'll make you scratch your head and wonder where my taste went..." LOL LOL LOL

...and another thing I'm wondering about...WHEN THE HELL IS THAT MILLI VANILLI BOX COMING OUT???!!! LOL LOL LOL LOL

Mariah Carey - Complete Recordings: Remixed & Remastered so those uber-high notes are even more painful and earbending.

Isn't there a SoT 8 disk box with all sessions for 'Country Love' already? I hear it was used with great results in Club Gitmo...
