... who sent their condolences and best wishes on my mother's passing, thank you from the bottom of my heart. They helped more than you might realise at a time when life became suddenly very difficult. Again, I thank you all.

Just glad to have you back here. There's been a hole in several conversations where your voice belonged.

Life's different from this point forward, but it goes on, and for me, the discovery has been that the person you thought would be missing is still right there. I wish I could be more help than that.

One of the many strange things Brian Wilson's music has done is that in this case it has created a small community of people, most of whom you'll never meet, who are really thinking about you right now and sending you their thoughts from many different places.  I know I have been.

In turn: thanks go out to you Andrew for thanking us so eloquently. I hope that you will be able to deal with the bereavement. My parents are of an advanced age, and I am thinking more and more about their health issues. It must be terrible to lose the person who once, long ago, gave birth to you.

dennis potter once observed that his relationship with his father, to his surprise, didn't end when his father died.  in fact, he said, he felt closer to his father when (or perhaps because) he was no longer around, which was a comfort to him.
