My intuition declares an emphatic YES but I haven't really seen any mentions of it anywhere. Has he ever spoke about it anywhere? I wanna read it.

He said in one of the BW/BBoys docs that he didn't like "the tent" which was described by one of the other guys as a drug den of sorts.

As a side note, I'm always surprised by how young Van Dyke looks around 66/67 in the shots with Brian.

I think you were an exception if you were in the scene Van Dyke was in at the time and didn't do any drugs at all...

Well, he wrote a song called "Pot Pourri" around that time.

Yes, he indulged, as he has admitted in interviews - and he inhaled.  He hasn't gone into details, but from the Brian days marijuana, hash and speed for sure.

I saw something somewhere where Van said in relation to Brian's drug use, "And I thought that was... not wise."
But then again, it's not clear whether he means for Brian or for anyone in general, which would speak more about himself.

In 'Catch A Wave', there's a bit in there about how Brian had one of the first video cameras, and there was a recollection ( by Michael Vosse I believe) about how Van Dyke had been videotaped with his wife demonstrating how to roll a joint. Van Dyke said he would like to see that, because he couldn't remember that instance.

I think I remember one interview where he talked about his drug use in the seventies. Nothing dramatic, just something in the lines of "just like everyone else in LA at the time I also etc".
