I've been (somewhat obsessively) listening to the various sessions for "Please Let Me Wonder" this week.  One particular tape has several takes of attempts at background vocals... this is from a compilation called "Unreleased Gems" and the same thing is on "Capitol Punishment".  The material for much of those was booted in the early 1980s.  There are several attempts at double-tracking background vocals for the song, and Murry is in the booth.  Interestingly, I think these background vocals were not used on the final released version of the song.  On the second verse, the "ahhhhh" syllable is used, as opposed to the "ooooohs" heard on the final version.

Regardless, this is amazing stuff.  On the final take, the boot "producer" lowers the instrumental track, and what we get to hear is absolutely amazing, just vocals.  I'd love to hear this in better quality, but I'm not sure if the tape is still in the vaults.  Part of the "Don't Talk" tracking sessions are on the "Unreleased Gems" boot as well, and I know that tape is missing... were these two tapes stolen together?

For those who haven't heard it, somebody loaded it on youtube.  Especially listen around the 6 minute mark until the end.  Amazing stuff.

It has been removed.

That is definitely one of the most gorgeous things in circulation, and would be great to have
in a higher generation. Cry

It has been removed?  I just went to the site, and I'm listening to it right now.  Strange...

It's still there.

Yeah, I had never heard that.  Those harmonies when the music drops out gave me chills!

Sorry to mislead, I guess it had just been temporarily taken off the site when I checked it a few
days ago.

That's up there for me as a top choice for inclusion on a greatly hoped-for collection of isolated vocal tracks, a la Good Vibrations box set bonus disc, for future release or inclusion as bonus tracks or disc in yet another anthology.

I believe it's Chuck Britz, not Murry

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Both Chuck and Murry are in the booth.  They had very similar speaking voices, which can make it confusing.  That's Murry carrying on his usual annoying banter of "Okay, now you're coasting, put more emotion into the background, Mike enunciate your aaahhs" etc....and that's Chuck calling out take numbers.
