Carl was easily one of the top 10 greatest singers in rock and roll...and an underrated guitarist too! 3D

EDIT: Really wish Dennis were still around, too!

An angel in every way, he definitely deserves more credit than he gets for the part he played in music history (as do his brothers). I really can't believe it's been 11 years Cry I've never read a more appropriate epitaph.

Even though I wasn't a fan when he was still around I still miss him so much... In some ways I felt like I knew him... he will forever be missed but not forgotten. Of all the band members he is the one you hear the least amount of bad things about... in fact pretty much everyone only has nice things to say about him which just shows what an amazing person he was. It's been said so often but it can't be said enough, he had such a beautiful voice but he was also an underrated musician, producer and songwriter. We love and miss you Carl and thanks for all those wonderful memories/melodies/harmonies you have given us all to enjoy so much Smiley

Great pic Ed ! Thank you !
When was this taken? I guess the presence of Myrna Smith indicates '82 (?)

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

This was backstage, (upstairs), at The Roxy, after Carl's solo show.

No sweat, Ed, you write your stuff, we'll fix the dates and chronology (for a small consideration, of course  Grin) and then... well, world peace, anyone ?

Okay, date anyone???

It was an honor to meet this special man whose incredible voice enriched every song he sang.

Geez, even cleaned up Dennis looks beat up.

I didn't mean to post this photo as anything other than a tribute to Carl.  I love the way he looks there, the joy on Myrna's face, and I love remembering how happy he was that night...
Dennis only looks beat up because he was beat that night, but I'm not one to be able to get into the psychology of why this was so.  However, I do know that on the nights we went to see Carl perform solo shows, and there were a few of them, those nights were often the biggest conflicts we had over 'partying'.  (While I'm often implicated as his 'partner-in-crime', I was almost as often at least trying to be the voice of reason.  Not an easy position to take with a powerhouse like him!)  For whatever the reason, whatever fears or jealousies were raging in him on those nights, he had a particular need to get extremely out of it.  And that often wasn't  fun to be around, nor was it a pretty thing to witness, as you can grasp in photos of that night.

Yeah, think how that thing must've smelled! Cry

Dennis might've been having his problems then, but I liked that look he had goin', with the short hair and no beard. He looked distinguished....
