maybe this has been discussed before, but once the Beach Boys started to mix there albums in stereo would brian have a mono mix made for himself. and if so would there be mono mixes even of his recent solo albums? i think it would be interesting to hear an album like BW 88 in mono

For a little while, attempts were made to let Brian monitor stereo mixes-in-progress in mono (using a contraption devised by Desper), but that didn't seem to last beyond the 60s.

I would guess Brian used the mono device until the studio was taken out or Desper left. Which was a period of six months or so.

The studio was dismantled and part of it (the monitors, I seem to recall) used for the Dutch jaunt in early 1972, shortly after SWD left the BB's employ. Like aeijtzsche said, the 'mono fold-down monitor' widget was used for Friends and 20/20.

Just do a fold-down yourself in Adobe Audition, Audacity, or another audio editing program.

Yeah I knew some of it was used in Holland. Didn't some stuff get damaged there because of the different circuts?
