Beatles references in "Oxygen To The Brain"?
«

The alarm clock sound in the beginning reminds me of "A Day In The Life," & there's also the line "don't carry that weight." Are these deliberate Beatle refs or just coincidence?
Also: I bet it's safe to say Brian's new album was the only Top 40 release of 2008 to contain the line, "I hardly ever washed my face."

idk if the triangle at the beginning is such as an alarm, but it does sound like a wonderful way to wake up

that's what I was trying to say...
The Beatles reference I thought I caught was on Good Kinda Lovin, the vocal that sings: A little bit of lovin and a kissin and huggin...to me, it sounds like part of a vocal on Maxwell's Silver Hammer....prolly just coincidence

Lots of BB songs use the word "the", as do lots of Beatles songs. But I think it's just a coincidence, myself.
However, there's a Del Amitri song, "Here And Now" which contains the lines "and did I tell you/the sound of the surf/makes strange things happen to me". Now
that's
a tad beyond chance.

To paraphrase a quote about the Velvet Underground, "Hardly anyone bought Summer in Paradise, but everyone who heard it was inspired to make music."

Yeah, inspired to make music that was 1000 times better than that piece of sh*t (which about half consists of guilty pleasures for me).
