These versions are the original versions, or live versions by Brian?
Anyone here have this cd?
Ah, Mike sued him in 2004 because Brian released this cd!

He didn't release it - it was a freebie with a UK Sunday newspaper. Mike sued him for using the BB name and image, and lost. As I recall, some tracks were the originals, some live by brian's band.

"California Girls", "Good Vibrations", "DarlinŽ" & "Help Me Rhonda" taken from "Live At The Roxy",
"WouldnŽt It Be Nice", "God Only Knows" & "Sloop John B" taken from "Pet Sounds Live" plus
the studio versions of "Love & Mercy", "Soul SearchinŽ" & "GettinŽIn Over My Head" .

2 videos are also included: "California Girls" ("BW On Tour" DVD) & "God Only Knows" ("PS Live" DVD).

The publicly-available court papers in Mike's lawsuit back up AGD: the freebie CD and its design were cooked up by the Mail and OK'd by Brian's managers at SOOP.  There's no reason he would have had any knowledge of, or participation in, its release, despite what the pleadings allege.

As many of you know, there are a couple of threads on the now-dismissed Mike lawsuit buried here in the archives.  Mike not only lost, he was ordered to pay Brian's legal fees (which can happen when you lose a copyright case - ask Saul Zaentz, who sued John Fogerty for "self-plagiarism" and lost).

Just wish they'd make it so that a losing plaintiff would cover the defendant's fees regardless of the nature of the case; it sure would stop a lot of the frivolous lawsuits in this country...

Why did Brian deserve to be sued? The cover clearly states that it's Brian doing the songs, not the whole group. Brian's picture is the biggest one on the cover! Were the pictures of the entire group the only basis for Mike's suit?
