I think this is a really heartfelt song. Did Mike write this one by himself?

You are speaking of the session right? Alone On A Christmas Day never came out. A shame as it's very good.

Yeah, the song. Is it called Alone on a Christmas Day or just Christmas Day? It's stupid that they'd have two songs with the same title...

All I Wanna Do? vs. Al I Want To Do? mmm, not totally the same. But if that one counts: Darlin' and Oh Darlin'? (2 different songs in every possible aspect) Or what about Time (Denny solo vs. Carl solo)

Rule of thumb, think BEFORE you post. And THINK how it may affect someone else's feelings. Check out the Beach Boys Starline website, the place for pictures of many countries Beach Boys releases on 45. Listening to you I get the music; Gazing at you I get the heat; Following you I climb the mountain; I get excitement at your feet Right behind you I see the millions; On you I see the glory; From you I get opinions; From you I get the story

"Because of the attitude of a few mental dinosaurs intent on exploiting our initial success, Brian's huge talent has never been fully appreciated in America and the potential of the group has been stifled.... If the Beatles had suffered this kind of misrepresentation, they would have never got past singing 'Please Please Me' and 'I Wanna Hold Your Hand' and leaping around in Beatle suits." -Dennis Wilson, 1970

Is this the song that Brian called (on some bootleg or other) a piece of sh*t or was it Christmas Day on the 60s album or was it the Spectorish diity of that name he released on his website and then on his own Christmas album?
After Morning Christmas and Winter Symphony, this is the best Christmas song recorded for the aborted 77 album. I know that doesn't say much... Odd that it wasn't on the Ultimate Christmas CD.

I believe that was Christmas Day on the 60s Christmas album.
I always liked Alone on Christmas Day and was also disappointed it wasn't included in the 77 Christmas stuff.

That's interesting. When BW released his Christmas album it got a lousy review in The Observer in the UK and the critic referred to the fact that even BW thought Christmas Day was bad because of what he said on the demo. Jeez.

On what demo? There are some Sea of Tune sessions where Brian may have said something derogatory about Christmas Day.

So am I right in thinking there are three BW/BB songs with titles like this:
Christmas Day (60s) Alone on Christmas Day (70s) On Christmas Day (2000s)

Okay, so the song is officially called "Alone on a Christmas Day"? The version I have is just called Christmas Day. That's the trouble with boots.

There's another he did in the 80s.

Which one is 'Alone on Christmas day'? Is it a recycled one or was it a new one?
