Does anybody know how much video footage exists of the guys' short 1972 stint in the Netherlands?

Were they filmed in the studio? Chasing cows?

I know there are some clips on the "Endless Harmony" DVD (or was it "An American Band"?), so, I was wondering if there's any more?

With the fortune spent taking that entourage to europe for months, lets hope someone shot a complete documentary.

Or maybe they were stoned and forgot the camera.......or forgot to turn the camera on.... Roll Eyes

The footage is in Endless Harmony. I think it was done for a commercial or something like that. Brian isn't in it but I think Daryl Dragon is.

I remember a lot Europe in 1968 and 1969. I don't remember any footage from 1972-5 at all.

The Netherlands footage might actually be from the '60s tour film.  I have a video CD with the complete film, and I think there is footage from that country in it.  I'd have to drag it out, but watching it is sort of like watching paint dry, even though it's not that long.

I know that in 1997/98 there were plans to make a Dutch documentary for the 25th anniversary of (the making of) Holland. Unfortunately they weren't able to get most of the key-members to get some interviews. Although later on some interviews with Blondie, Ricky and I think Brian or Alan did appear in Mojo (I think) and a Dutch magazine (of which the name doesn't pop into mind right now) in which Holland was discussed. Too bad, it would've been quite interesting.

I also remember having on tape somewhere a couple of Dutch documentaries from the early 80-es. Largely based on the Good Vibrations tour-docu with some extra interviews added. The same docu was broadcasted almost yearly at the time, with just a few changes at the end of it (for instance when Dennis died). I remember Carl talking about their stay in the Netherlands. Unfortunately only pictures of the 1972-era were shown... Should look that up...

The ironic thing is that they really were not there that long- They were on tour in the states in March and Apr 72, than in Europe in May. So they didn't really settle in Holland till early June. They were back in the states by Aug 16 (at the latest) to begin another tour. So they were only there for about two and a half months at most

The article on the making of Holland which featured Al and Brian (plus contributions from Blondie and Ricky) appeared in Mojo Collections, the Spring 2002 edition. Most of the pictures are well known although there is one of the studio.

Don't know about any film footage though.

Too bad that documentary you mention was never made.

I do know that Dutch music magazine OOR published an article in 1997 about "Holland", and I have it, but it does not include any (new or -then- recent) interviews with any band members. It does however, include a few nice pictures.

By the way, thanks everyone!  Smiley

Yes there is a piece on Holland in one of the Mojo Collections specials. It has Brian on the cover I think.

just checked the archives overhere... it's indeed the Mojo Collections Spring 2002 (by Silvie Simmons) that has an article on Holland. "Dutch" pictures of the studio in Baambrugge and Brian.

Also found the Dutch article on the Holland album. Oor (Ear) magazine (nr22, Nov.1st 1997). A 6-page article written by Job Twisk. Pictures of Carl, Brian, Dennis, Mike in the Netherlands. Also a picture of the Boys in 1970 (Concertgebouw, Amsterdam). And - surprising - even a picture of a small party in The Netherlands of the local recordcompany on which the Boys attended...Audree Wilson is present as well as Marilyn. Lot of background information and inside stories of those narrowly involved with the project. Great article.

...albeit it in a much shorter translation, but I think it covers the main context of the story pretty well...

Reading the article, I get the idea that there's a lot of interesting BB-stuff in the Dutch faults...
