I never knew carnie was in playboy. I wonder what she was thinking at that time.

All I'll say is...

PhotoShop is a wonderful program.  I'm sure Belinda Carlisle would concur.

More interesting than the photoshopped pictures (and the siliconed breasts) was the interview:

(I hope it's okay to post this link here - the pictures aren't offensive at all, though the interview might be. Click only if you really want to read it)

I remember hearing her say that she would love to be a slut (her words) if given a chance. I see she made it.

People these days don't seem to have any concept of what's proper to air in public. If Carnie thinks telling all like that makes people respect her more, she's dead wrong. After reading that, my thoughts were, "too bad her parents failed to teach her dignity and respect for values." And one of those parents is Brian.

I suspect it was Carnie's photo that "shook" Brian up during that "SMiLE" tour rehearsal captured in the "Beautiful Dreamer" documentary. He only mentions seeing a photo in Playboy that "shook" him up; he doesn't get into specifics. His band members crack up over the comment (Taylor Mills looks quite surprised), but I wonder if what Brian was getting at was a bit more disturbing to him than he was letting on!

What's wrong with being open about sex? Us Americans (just in general...don't know if you're a fellow yank or not) are so scared of sex, like its something evil. I feel uncomfortable talking about sexual stuff in public, and I know that's because I've been conditioned by society to feel like that. Anyways, its not like Carnie went on children's television and started talking about sex. This was in PLAYBOY, a magazine which devotes quite a bit of its pages to sex. She is giving into the whole male-dominated sex industry that encourages men to treat women as nothing but sexual objects and not as human beings, but thats a debate for another day. Point is, we shouldn't be so afraid of talking about sex. If you do think Brian failed to teach Carnie dignity, remember that he wasn't completely in touch with reality during Carnie's childhood.

Wasn't that a long time after Carnie's Playboy pics?
When I saw that part of BD, I thought Brian had just seen a typical centerfold and liked it and couldn't stop thinking about it. He says "It threw me off the track," and he's laughing about it. I have a feeling Brian has no qualms about looking in Playboy. I do hope he never saw Carnie's photos, though. That would just be weird.

Perhaps no weirder than the rest of Brian's life! I hope as well that he didn't see Carnie's photos, but the thought was in the back of my mind when Brian mentioned it during the rehearsal (which I think would have been about a year after the Carnie Playboy publication?). I thought the laugh was a little nervous, too; almost like he realized that he shouldn't specify anything more and leave it as a joke. I'm sure I'm reading too much into the remark.

I have no trouble talking about sex. I think that parts of a person's life should remain private, and that the kind of stuff Carnie talked about is that kind of stuff. You can talk about sex without making your private sex life part of the public record.

I think it's voyeurism, and the flip side of it, that makes people behave in this manner. The thrill gotten when others are shocked, etc. If that's Carnie's personality, then she not only picked up a lot of her dad, but a good part of Uncle Dennis.

Brian did not raise his kids, he never had a hand in teaching them right and wrong. Marilyn was the parent, the only parent, Brian was there but wasn't really there for the girls. If anyone say's It's how she was raised then It's not brians fault. he should have helped with his kids, but thats another story.

Well home movies from before Murry's death show him playing with them and Carnie remembers Brian helping Wendy when she got burned in Holland. After 1973 I bet he did next to nothing, but the (I think it was A&E) doc on Carnie  says that he was initally around. Maybe 1976-77 he was a little better for a while. Anyhow that's just guess work on my end.

I did read Carnie's thing and it's just kind of gross. I have no problem talking with my friends or girlfriend about sex but that's just not the type of thing you really want to read about generally. At least not in that kind of detail.

I once heard a radio interview with Brian from 1976 where he openly talked about his sex-life with Marilyn. How many times a week etc... Hearing recent interviews with Carnie I must say, she acts and talks so much like her father.

I didn't really find that interview all that shocking, I've seen much worse in Playboy. Pretty typical, actually. But then again, I've always been very open sexually, so I don't really care what others say about their sex lives.

I guess it's not shocking and nothing I wouldn't talk about in private, but I guess I felt that she was trying get attention in the wrong way here.

That's right melissalynn.
I wonder if she did it for money, just because her father is rich don't mean she was as an adult. She lost all that weight, got alot of attention she never got before.

Carnie has already eaten through her gastric bypass and has gained a lot of weight back, and had problems with alcohol too. I don't think she currently weighs 300 pounds, but her weight is still a problem.

I dated a girl that had that procedure and she it was working when we went out but when I saw her like a year later I could tell that she was on her way to wrecking the procedure too.
