This just in...

"A new 60 minute documentary film on the life of Dennis Wilson has been created for the BBC4 Legends series and will premiere in the UK this summer. The documentary features previously unseen footage and rare archival materials. New interview segments with David Marks, Al Jardine, Blondie Chaplin, Michael Wilson, Carl B. Wilson, Gregg Jakobson, Ed Roach, John Hanlon, Jeffrey Foskett, Tom Murphy, Ron Swallow, Jo Ann Marks, Taylor Hawkins, Mike Kowalski, Jon Stebbins and others give the film a fresh perspective on Dennis’ life and legacy. The documentary was produced by Lime Pictures of Liverpool in association with Dusty Slider films. Matt O’Casey is credited as director and co-producer, Jon Stebbins is the film’s U.S. producer, Howie Edelson was the film’s primary creative consultant. The documentary is narrated by noted British DJ Mark Radcliffe who is also a drummer and a longtime fan of Dennis Wilson."

Hey, C-man, where'd ya' get the dope on this 'top secret' show???
You did fail to mention that Matt O'Casey also created "Wouldn't It Be Nice",
IMO one of the absolute best doc's ever done on The Boys.
This new documentary is the one that Jon & I have been using as an excuse,
as to why his new edition of "The Real Beach Boy", as well as my first edition of
"The Flip Side of Summer", aren't almost available as of yet.
However, this show will also be why they have got to be available soon...

Great news...as long as "The Flip Side of Summer" isn't about FLIP Wilson...I mean, he was cool in his own right, but come ON...    Grin

Is that the same Stubbens who desperately advertises his 'books' via all kinds of internet sites? Under the pretext of 'being in the know'?
Just asking.

I look forward to it's USA release on DVD. I will dust off the cobwebs and break open my wallet just special for it.

I’ll state the obvious—this sounds amazing!!

It’s interesting that its origin is in England.  I’m creating a database of every Beach Boy magazine article ever published, and I was surprised to learn how much press they received in England.

When will those of us across the ocean be able to view this documentary?

That's a great title!  It nicely hints at the book's contents!

Update...

http://www.broadcastnow.co.uk/news/commissioning/lime-moves-into-docs-with-beach-boy-co-pro-film/5002359.article

11 June, 2009
Lime moves into docs with Beach Boy co-pro film

Hollyoaks producer Lime Pictures is venturing into arts programming with a BBC4 profile of Beach Boys drummer Dennis Wilson.

Dennis Wilson - the Real Beach Boy will be part of the channel’s Legends series and will uncover the early life of Wilson, the only actual surfer in the California band. DJ Mark Radcliffe narrates the film, which features new interviews with Wilson’s brother and bandmate Brian, sons and friends.

Matt O’Casey, who made BBC doc Blondie - One Way or Another, will produce and direct, and his indie Dusty Slider will co-produce the 60-minute doc. Executive producers are Tony Wood for Lime and Paul Bullock for the BBC.

Was wouldn't it be nice the biography channel film?  I had a piece of that on tape but would love to have a nice disc of it.  Along with the new Denny film..  And I would still like to get my hands on the HBO Washingington DC live show on disc.

Anyone?   I can be Pm'd.... Grin
