I know that it was released in Dec. 1970, but I can't find any recording info.

I don't think it gives dates on either of those sources.

AGD did a great job of getting precise recording info for a lot of 1969 and 1970 sessions- thanks to some great sources who prefer to remain anonymous, but some songs exact recording dates are still a mystery.  Once they started recording at home, it becomes a lot harder to get exact info than when they were at Western or Gold Star.  My guess would be late 69- notice that the actual date of the Lady session (flip side) was Dec 26 1969- so perhaps around that time?

I have the Badman book and I have checked Andrew's site, but unfortunately, neither of those sources have any info on the songs I'm looking into (or very little).

I always assumed that it was recorded in late 1970 because of the late 1970 release date, otherwise why didn't they release it in early 1970? But it's possible that it was recorded at the same time as "Lady" and it just took a while for EMI to release it.

A sweetening session for Lady was held Jan 26, 1970 with Michel Colombier as the session Leader (Teras, Our sweet Love and Take a load were done at the same session). The exact release date of the single was Dec 4, 1970. Dennis sdang an accustic version of Lady live at the David Frost Show  February 25, 1971 (broadcast March 24, 1971).

Dogear- that's not actually correct. Badman had the wrong info for the David Frost show.  The BBs did a long interview with Crawdaddy in Feb 1971. The interview was done after their concert at Carnegie Hall on Feb 24 and then continued on Mar 1 (the interviewer says the Monday after the Carnegie show) at a taping of David Frost.  This taping was for Cool, Cool Water and Wouldn't It Be Nice- as the interviewer describes.  The interview proves that Badman has the wrong info-as he places this taping in May- so the app with Lady seems to have been in May (if Badman's date for the other Frost taping is accurate-then he mixed up the apps).  As other evidence- the taping of the Mar 1 David Frost was attended (off camera) by Dave Marks- who met the BBs in Boston.  Badman placed the Boston show on Feb 23, but I have the ads and reviews from the Boston Globe and Herald-it was played on Feb 28- so it all makles sense- Dave met the BBs at the Sunday Feb 28 gig and then attended the Dave Frost taping the next day (as recounted in his book)

Ian - thanx for the corrections.
Maybe it's of interest that the 45 was noot only released in England, but also in Holland (Stateside 5C006-92147 with a title sleeve) and in France (Stateside 2C006-92147 with a Picture Sleeve). Anybody knows of other releases?

Quick note on that assumption: seems that in the world of Beach Boys-related recordings, it's a dangerous one. It could, for the obvious, dramatic example, lead one to believe "When Girls Get Together" was recorded about a decade later than it actually was.

And last year I've seen a Irish pressing of Sound Of Free on Ebay. Saw the pictures, and I'm pretty sure that one was real. (and expensive...)

Rule of thumb, think BEFORE you post. And THINK how it may affect someone else's feelings.

Check out the Beach Boys Starline website, the place for pictures of many countries Beach Boys releases on 45.

Here´s the Irish pressing. But I doubt there´s an Australian release.

No. I think I bought my copy in the 80s in a wonderful record shop in Camden Town, London.

I just asked Stephen McParland about an Australian release. His prompt answer was: "Sorry, not that I am aware of."
