I gotta admit that......
I somehow like Strangs Things Happen (the longer US-version) and Lahaina Aloha.....
merely because of respectively Al’s and Carls leadvoc’s, but still I like them.......

now if that ain’t cheesy...

Jardine's vocals on Strange Things are nothing short of fantastic. They actually made me think of him in a differnt way as a vocalist.
Glad I'm not the only one who feels that way.  I actually think it would've made a good single.

My favorite cheese? How about this...
I like ALL of the albums up until Still Cruisin, and I even like much of SIP.

Keepin' The Summer Alive all the way baby!  I love that song.  And it is so fodaing stupid.

Here Comes The Night -- crass, blatant pandering, beautifully executed vocally and to an edgy track (think of "Go Get That Girl" or "She's Got Rhythm" or the Celebration album to imagine how Beach Boys disco could have been sooo much worse).  I love it...one of my all time fave BBs tracks.

Recently had M.I.U. on and was shocked to find out how much of it held up for me as an adult (I first absorbed it at about 14).  Some of the stupidest lyrics ever committed to record, but Pitter Patter, Matchpoint and Winds of Change -- I enjoyed them all.  My Diane too, but that ain't cheese.

Summer In Paradise is a toxic waste dump of a record, but the Surfin' remake is a lot of fun...it works precisely because it's such a bad idea.  It actually comes out the other side of bad into being a hoot.

Them there's my votes!

Sorry to exhume this old thread, but reading the opposite one (great songs you, er, "yer" don't like) and reading all the recent stuff about my disliked KTSA and despised '85, I pulled out my twofer. And I forgot something.

I like Livin' With a Heartache. It's cheese. The production has plenty of vintage cheese (Is that effect-laden electric guitar and electric pianos in unison on 2 and 4 in the verses?) Carl sounds pretty drunk.

But I kind of like it anyway.

Carl was pretty cleaned up by 1979. Steve Desper says it's his favorite Beach Boys recording he did.

I'm going to admit something pretty gaspworthy:

I like "Summer Of Love".

Not because it's a great piece of music...it's an absolute embarassment and should not have been on that Baywatch episode.  But because it's so cheesy it's actually pretty enjoyable and puts a smile on my face almost every time I hear it.

I got to agree Eric. Summer of Love is so bad its almost good.  All those references to old BB songs makes it pretty entertaining. Besides, its a lot better than Brian's rap song Smart Girls... but I have to admit, I like the Smart Girls song as well.  LOL

Smart Girls...that's where I draw the line.  I think I've managed to listen to that all the way through just once.  For whatever reason, I find almost all of Sweet Insanity pretty unlistenable.

Agree with all of yours except School Days...the shoddy production (mainly the lazily repetitive backups) ruin the song for me.

I LOVE Sunshine, though. Brian's singing in his upper range throughout, which was a rarity for that time period.

There sure is a lot of crazy posts on that board!

The other day i saw someone saying that The Beach Boys version of The Times They Are a-Changin' was better than the original one by Bob Dylan, and now i'm reading that their version of School Days is better than the original by Chuck Berry, holy moly!!!!!

I'm with everyone on the KTSA songs. The title track, Sunshine, Some of Your Love; these songs are so cheesy and stupid, but they are so damn hooky. Lots of fun to sing-along to.

Kokomo, Some of Your Love, Endless Harmony, Barbara Ann (is that cheesy?), Still Cruisin'...there are very fews songs I really don't like. And this isn't cheesy so much as it is completely bizarre, but I really like My Solution.
