I don't know anything about "You're Still a Mystery." Can someone enlighten me? When I first heard it, it sounded so familiar. Is it a rewrite/was it later rewritten? Or does it just sound familiar because it's one of those great songs that grab you right away?

I think a bit of it ended up in "This Isn't Love"; maybe it reminds you of that song.

Other way around. "This Isn't Love" was actually written circa 1980, although the lyrics did comes later.

Amen to that brother.....this is what could've been if the BB's were mature enough to put out a product as a cohesive unit.

Thanks, I found the thread. Fascinating read.
Wish this song was released... by the BBs, a cover band, whatever. But that's true of a lot of BB/BW songs, of course.

Yep, I was aware of this, but then it would have been awkward to say "a bit from the song which eventually became 'This Isn't Love' was used in 'You're Still A Mystery' and then interpolated back into 'This Isn't Love' for release when 'You're Still A Mystery' went unfinished"!

you're still a mystery always reminded me of a Pet Sounds meets Love You type song... especially the guitar sound (sounding like the instrumental pet sounds)

An awesome song!  I found it so hard to believe what time period this came from on first listen.  It's a shame this song hasn't seen an official release.  And Brian's falsetto (even if there might have been possible touchups).  The rest of the BBs on backing vocals is well noted too.

Oh, god, I wish the Beach Boys would just put this song and the Carl vocal version of "Soul Searchin" on the end of one of these greatest hits packages. They are brilliant songs.
