Awesome..But in the tour booklet there's a pic of brian in a brown jacket and orange socks, does anyone have that pic, if so it would be cool if you could post it.

I like the now/then picture of Brian playing bass. That would make a neat poster...

That's from the fall 1964 European promo tour, I'm pretty sure.

I picked up the program at the Saratoga show. I'm really glad they went ahead and sold what did indeed appear to be a program meant for the European tour at the US dates as well. I always buy a program at shows I go to, as I find that type of item to be much more enjoyable to have and keep as opposed to t-shirts, which seem to be the biggest sellers at just about any concert or tour I've ever been to.
One tiny warning to European fans who are going to be going to the BW shows and plan to buy the program: The spread that shows the backing band includes Al Jardine, so if you're already ticked off about the whole Al debacle, seeing that might annoy you just a bit more. It was strange for me, because Al wasn't scheduled for the Saratoga show, so when I saw him in the program I knew that it then must have been meant primarily for the European tour. Strange how the program ended up being accurate for the Saratoga show in the end in terms of the band lineup.
I'm glad Al is in the program though, because I think it's the first actual thing of any sort that has been produced that documents Al and Brian playing together, apart from perhaps the poster I saw somewhere for the Monterey show. As far as I can tell, none of the ticket stubs or any of the shirts, posters, etc. from the Pet Sounds 40th anniversary shows actually mentioned Al, so I'm glad to have the 2007 program document them playing together, even if the tour it was meant for now doesn't feature Al.
I'll also say that the 2007 program and all of Brian's programs over the years for that matter have been pretty fairly priced, at least in comparison to other artists' programs. McCartney's is usually $30. Sure, the McCartney programs are thick, but there are a bunch of advertisements in them!
Mr. London, did you also design the poster that was made for the May and June US dates? I've just recently got into getting a lot of posters framed and put up on the wall finally, so I was jazzed that there was a cool poster made specifically for the six US dates for May and June. I had that poster framed and on the wall within two days. I like the sort of dayglo type coloring on it and the texturing.
And while I'm asking, did you do the Pet Sounds 40th Anniversary posters as well? I've been trying to find one of those posters but haven't been successful yet. I didn't think a version for the January west coast dates existed, as none were sold at the Oakland show I was at, but apparently a west coast version exists. I'd love to find either a west coast or east coast version (the brianwilon.com website has the east coast poster in their shop, but it's out of stock and I somehow doubt they have any plans to print more up). So if anybody can help me out with either version of the Pet Sounds 40th Anniversary tour poster, I'd be very grateful!

Wow, very nice Mark. The text is small, but what I could make out it seems like the interview with Brian is excellent with him providing some uncharacteristically good answers.

The interview is a pretty fun read. It reads more like a transcript of a conversation than strictly an interview. A few times, you get Brian asking for a Perrier and talking about which restaurants he likes and what dishes he likes at the different restaurants. But he also discusses music as well! He makes some nice comments about Al, and it seems he genuinely enjoys having Al at his side performing. He seems pretty lucid and engaging in the interview. It certainly is a step above some of the interviews you see with leading questions that get a "yes" or "no" answer.

Hey Jude...
I'm glad we had them for Saratoga too! As you can imagine, I was awaiting a call or an
e-mail to change the book a little due to Al not joining the Europe part of the tour, but
it looks like that's how it'll stay, and it's a great reminder of the shows they did this year.
BTW; things are great between Brian and Al. Brian sang on his new album and you may be
surprised just how cool "A Postcard From California" is gonna be.
Mr. London, did you also design the poster that was made for the May and June US dates?
No, sorry I didn't do the poster I think you're talking about (the endless summer type thing?)
that was done by the merch company....I put 2 solid months into just designing that booklet.
The interview is a pretty fun read. It reads more like a transcript of a conversation than strictly an interview.
Brian's known Harvey for a long time, and Harvey's a true character (for those that know him)
so I knew he was the perfect guy to do it because Brian likes Harvey and opens up when he's
around. There was a lot of food happening there, we did it at a Deli, so that's why I titled the
piece "Booth Session With Big Daddy"! and rather than edit it like a standard mag interview,
we transcribed it as a play by play...it's a reality show in print!
I did do the Pet Sounds poster though, but I only got a few myself...
e-mail me at
mlondon@hotmail.com
and I'll see if I can find one for ya.
Josh- Thanks. You still in L.A.?
The text isn't that small actually, it's around the size of an album, but the
jpegs are only a small example of the photos and layout for a preview

Man, that's good to hear that there are no hard feelings between them.
Did or will you do the artwork for Al's CD, too? And what about "That lucky old sun" ? Only because if you are allowed to talk about it...

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Mark, sadly I am on indefinite LA hiatus right now, but always looking for a tenable situation that would allow a permanent security as an LA resident. I miss our occasional run-ins.

Thanks for this posting. Just noticed that Brian's playing in Bristol (England), my home town, the venue I saw him play in March 2004 just after the London Smile shows. I suppose I'll have to go then... I wasn't going to, after the latest problems (or supposed problems). Judging by the DVD footage they were still putting Smile together a month before premiering it, so I guess not having finished Lucky Old Sun with 3 months to go is no big deal.
