I am happy to announce David Marks, Matt Moore, Larry Brown and David Jackson will reunite to play a set on May 29th @ RUSTY'S SURF RANCH in honor of the release of the Lost Beach Boy and to celebrate THE MOON's 40th anniversary.  This is actually the first time these guys played live together as THE MOON so this truly an historic event.

There will be lots of incredible musicians playing that night in addition to the Moon.  Bill Trenkle, the original bassist of the Marksmen will join David, Jeff, Billy, Probyn, Dennis and Gary on a classic Marksmen tune.  And we have many special guests lined up to sit in...and you won't want to miss them either!

Tickets are available at TheLostBeachBoy.com but there is only a very limited number so don't wait too long or you might miss this once in a lifetime event!

For anyone who doesn't know their Moon history. The Moon formed in L.A. in 1967 and recorded two psych/pop LP's in the Beatles tradition, both released on Imperial Records, and both sadly underrated at the time. However time has been very kind to the Moon as many people around the world consider both LP's true lost gems of the era. The LP's were reissued on CD by Revola Records a few years ago. The orig. recordings were made at Continental Studios in L.A. for Mike Curb from 1967 to 1969. The Moon's members included Matt Moore on vocals and keyboards, Matt went on to become a Joe Cocker band member on the Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour and LP, as did his brother Danny(who wrote the songs My Maria and Shambala, two major hits). Matt Moore also was a member of David Cassidy's 1974 era band and then went on to record as a solo artist for James Guercio's Caribou Records...the same label Carl and Dennis Wilson recorded on. The Moon also featured the great Larry Brown on drums and production. Larry was one of the original Davey Allen and the Arrows members(Blues Theme!) and has gone on to be an award winning engineer and producer. The Moon's lead guitarist and co-vocalist was a guy named David Marks...you may have heard of him. These three industry legends along with their trusty bass player David Jackson will perform together for the first time since the '60's at Rusty's Surf Ranch on May 29th at the Lost Beach Boy book launch party. And since the Moon were a "studio only" band in their original incarnation, this will actually be their first public performance ever. More info at http://thelostbeachboy.com/

Thanks Carrie for sharing that information with us. Too bad I don't have the possibility at the moment to make another trip to the States, cause this is going to be a unique event.

I've been reading the "Lost Beach Boys" book the last couple of weeks (and as I'm not much of a reader, Jon S. did a really good job on this to keep me interested throughout the book; great reading, Jon!!), and happen to just have read the history on The Moon. If I understood well, they really only rehearsed at the time, but didn't perform.

Anyone here going to this concert? I'd love to see a review on the event!

Rule of thumb, think BEFORE you post. And THINK how it may affect someone else's feelings.

Check out the Beach Boys Starline website, the place for pictures of many countries Beach Boys releases on 45.

Listening to you I get the music; Gazing at you I get the heat; Following you I climb the mountain; I get excitement at your feet
Right behind you I see the millions; On you I see the glory; From you I get opinions; From you I get the story

I'll be there with bells on!  Well, maybe not with bells on.  But i'll be there, and hope to see lots of other fans at Rusty's, too.  I'm very much looking forward to what may be one of the great BB events ever!
