What more can be done that hasn't been? That is what I am wondering. Pet Sounds has been done in my mind to death. We've seen the sessions come out, the stereo versions, mono versions, 40th anniversary editions, and who knows what else! Why not take Smile out and use that? That at least has a setting more so then Pet Sounds. Now don't get me wrong I am a HUGE supporter of Pet Sounds. I became a fan through this album and thats why I'm here. But doesn't anyone think its becoming a tad bit overrated? Its actually annoying me now. That people ONLY see that album as the best. Why not something else that hasn't been done to death? As much as I love Pet Sounds, it needs to be put to sleep. I want something new and if not new, then something that is not heard a lot but can still be appreciated.

I agree Katie. I think its time to start beating Wild Honey, Friends, and 20/20 to death.

Agreed. A few years ago there was some talk about a Surf's Up DVD-A, which ultimately got cancelled after being postponed ad infinitum. Now that would've been a move in the right direction, as I think the album itself is many more or less casual fans' favorite.

I also agree...as much as I LOVE Pet Sounds, and as much as it is a terrific album...it's time to move on, and do something with the REST of the albums. I'd love to see something special done to Friends, Sunflower and Surf's Up. How many times can you re-release the same album?

All the same, Martin may have been the "fifth Beatle" but he was never a "Beach Boy". If Brian wants to experiment with "mashing-up" his old productions, he should try it himself.
I agree with you. Brian was always the producer of his own group, so if he can't do it he should probably shut the foda up. You know, I bet if they took him off the happy pills for a couple of days, he would stop acting like a zombie and actually do something decent in the studio.
NO sh*t BRO...I'M WITH YOU. "LOVE" IS PHENOMINAL & HAS A GREATER POINT. I BELIEVE BRIAN'S "PEOPLE" ARE SEEING DOLLARS AND STARS AND HE SHOULD GET OFF HIS OVERLY MEDDED ASS AN DO SOMETHING UNIQUE HIS DAMN SELF!!!!!
BRIAN IS QUICKLY BECOMING DIMINISHING RETURNS WITH ME. I'M TELLIN THE TRUTH. IM A LONGTIME BB'S AND BEATLES FAN.

And even that ended with a "Shortenin Bread" style riff. Overall good song, though, and I like that as a cut-off point for originality. I would argue the point for"Walking in the Path of Life", "Christmasey" and "What I really Want for Christmas", though. But yeah, besides those, just about everything else is a remake.

I don't think that't Brian's doing as much as his "people". Let's see though how this 4-part project he's unveiling later this year works out before we get too worked up. He does need to let PS rest though; it's becoming much like the oldies are for Mike & Bruce. Really sad, and strange too...never foresaw PS being done to death. Who'd have ever forseen that?!
