Man Carl and David could kill it on guitar when BW was actually interested in the surf group sound early on….

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

David Marks & the Marksmen kept killin it on guitar for some years. Some great surf jams in that compilation.

One thing I love about The Beach Boys-sphere is the level of talent they had around them (and the various projects that those talented individuals went off to make). If I want some great surf jams, I put on the Marksmen. If I want "SMiLE part II" (just a personal way I view the album) I listen to 'Discover America' by Van Dyke Parks. Etc etc.

I haven't really delved into The Moon (Marks had involvement with that after The Marksmen) at all. But definitely something I want to listen to.

God must’ve smiled the day Brian Wilson was born!

"ragegasm" - /rāj • ga-zəm/ : a logical mental response produced when your favorite band becomes remotely associated with the bro-country genre.

Ever want to hear some Beach Boys songs mashed up together like The Beatles' 'LOVE' album? Check out my mix!
