From Dae Lims, a superb Good Vibrations AI stereo remix.

Aside from the stereo, can somebody bullet point the tweaks in this? I can't tell the difference between this and the 26 other releases of this track.

Quality of all of the lead vocals are upgraded. Full stereo separation of the background vocals (not without artifacts at times, unfortunately).

And, well, just my take on the overall mix. I got almost all of the instruments separated and remixed it from scratch.

From Dae Lims, a superb Good Vibrations AI stereo remix.

A great mix and another good example of using AI well. Personally, I think this mix is a dramatic improvement on the official stereo mixes released so far. Past stereo attempts of GV have remained quite muddy and have limited separation (all for very obvious reasons), but this is both clearer and has better width and separation throughout - great work Dae Lims!

Yeah, it might be just because I'm limited to YouTube output, but I can't really tell a difference.

As with his remix of "The Little Girl I Once Knew," Dae Lims is a little airier here than what one's ears have become accustomed to from years of listening to the mono versions, but there is a great deal to recommend this--the clarity of the lead vocals is truly astounding, and the echo chamber effect on Mike's "Gotta keep those lovin' good vibrations..." is simply out of this world.

I think the "good good good good vibrations" line might still be better panned across the spectrum (its first entry sounds a bit less powerful than what we've heard all these years--it seems punchier in its subsequent iterations)--but that's just a quibble. Overall, it's definitely the best modern mix, and it's great to see the ongoing enthusiasm in the YouTube comments.

More, please!

Dae Lims GV is fantastic, and IMHO it should be integrated into the Dae Lims SMiLE.

This "Good Vibrations" stereo remix has AI vocals on it; I don't want to presume who noticed this or who didn't.

I was under the initial impression based on the title of the video that perhaps it was only using AI as a splitter/separation tool. But something immediately sounded off on the vocals. Subtle, but off. And, in fairness, it does state in the description of the video that it has AI vocal enhancements.

It wouldn't really make sense then to try to compare this to officially-released stereo remixes.

Holy cow have you all heard this yet?

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=t3EM6W7BZY8&pp=ygUYVGhlIHN1cnZpdm9ycyB3aWNoIHN0YW5k

I can’t find any information on ‘Wich Stand’ or any demo tracks (read it was a song Brian gave to the Survivors but I can’t find anything on that). Any info/links would be appreciated!

Seriously, I cannot believe this is AI - sounds spot-on beach boys. Even Mike’s lead dual vocal with some discrepancies in the timing - sounds vintage.

I would not say spot on. But very very good. The backing vocals are the only part that makes it sound a little off. I still think it sounds damn good. I had this on in the car and a good friend who is pretty deep into the Boys assumed it was merely an unreleased track. So this definitely gets a pass. I love constructing alternate and or unreleased albums (and this period had a ton of stuff to construct a great album) so I will use this track in the future.

Dae Lims - all that I ask and beg of you is A Day in the Life of a Tree with Dennis vocals to hear what that may have sounded like.

Thanks, Joel! Or, as Dae Lims titled it: "That's Not The Night Was So Young."

A wonderful surprise and a sublime Xmas gift to those who've always wanted to hear what this would sound like "a la sixties"...

This is super cool, and in a weird way it makes me appreciate the 1977 version that we got even more.

There's actually a great sounding version of that '76 demo tape circulating (and some of the tracks are in pristine quality on Brian's website), so I don't see a need for an "AI assist" on those tracks. That's such a powerful, meaningful tape of Brian's and the group's; I'm not really into messing with that one (beyond spiffing up the master tape for an official release).

I think "City Blues" (and "Oh Lord") would benefit greatly from the Peter Jackson/MAL/"Now and Then" treatment simply to pull apart the piano and Brian's voice and balance them out and clean them up. This "AI assist" version *almost* does that, but it sounds too futzed with. Would love more notes on the "cleaned up" demos beyond "AI assisted"; the AI vocal assist on these is obviously far, far more subtle than something like all those "60s Brian sings a 70s song" tracks, but I'd be curious to know what was done on these beyond using the AI to extract/isolate things.

Great, non-invasive work is being done by homebrew mixers with using AI to isolate parts. There are some *amazing* remixes of the early Beatles albums from someone named "Glider"; some of the best remixes I've ever heard. I continue to believe *that's* the perfect use of AI in the vintage audio realm.

Looks as though Dae Lims has been very busy in his lab...and has been focused on backing tracks.

Fifty (50!) of them, to be exact...

He's sure to "sell a million units"....on May 25th.  3D

How did that old phrase go..."be there or be square"?

Listening to it now, via a link on the Good Vibrations video, at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44jdOErCSJo. Excellent work and great sound. Maybe it should have been called Stack O' 50 Big Ones.

Some of the musical flourishes on the backing track of Break Away are similar to those on the backing track of This Whole World, to my ears.

Something that popped into mind listening to Dae Lims' Mono Tracks set was trying to pinpoint where it seemed like Brian started using marijuana. I would venture to say sometime after Girls On The Beach [1964-04-10] but definitely by Guess I'm Dumb [1964-09-14], likely on the earlier side as I can definitely here a change by She Know Me Too Well [1964-06-08].

On the forum where they pat themselves on the back daily for their supposed positivity and inclusion, Dae Lims is getting completely shellacked for his work there.

Kinda blows my mind that a lot of people can't see the talent/time it takes to make these tracks - nor see anything remotely positive about it. Or see the imagination behind creating these harmonies, etc.. I mean I don't think that everyone has to like this stuff, and there have been tracks I haven't liked, but it's kinda crazy seeing the dogpile of hate.

People have made Smile mixes for how long now? People have been using Brian Wilson's very own work/voice to create their own fantasy album(s) for how many decades now? I know this is a whole other universe of technology/creativity, but at its heart it is the same thing: a fan trying to create something that never was.

As Guitarfool said above: But if a fan does work like this who clearly knows the music on a level beyond collecting records and being a fan, and can import the precise musical details into the work and be musically and sonically accurate in doing so, it's a work of art unto itself.

Oh they have no problem attacking people for doing "traditional" SMiLE mixes too, dont you worry. I even got flak all the time for writing "SMiLE" instead of "Smile." They're just miserable people.

As for the DAE LIMS mixes, Im mostly very impressed by both the effort and results. I don't know if you take requests, seltaeb, or even if you're still here, but I'd like to propose a few projects:

1) I'd love to hear the BWPS melody of Worms. While I understand the interest in the one he sings in the booth on the TSS boxset, I personally am not the biggest fan of the results whenever anyone tries to fit it to the track. It just never seems right, and Im not picking on your work, Ive heard other AI recreations and felt the same way. I think there's just something we're missing, something only Brian would've thought of to make it work. I've often wondered if this alt melody wasn't meant to be a background vocal that "echoes" the main melody but starts later in the verse, if that makes sense. That would account for the fact that the 66-melody can't fill the verse by itself.

2) I'd honestly be willing to hire you to recreate the "Reconnected Telephones" vocals in Dennis' voice, the "CIFOTM" reprise vocals for the Surf fade (since I can't find them in isolation), pitch-shifted "Whispering Winds" vocals to fit with the fade of Holidays or even Wind Chimes, and isolated "Pretty Baby Won't You Rock w/ Me, Henry" vocals from the 2nd version of Wonderful to use in the first.

3) Using the Project SMiLE verse lyrics of CIFOTM with the Beach Boys voices.

4) The BWPS vocals of Look done in Beach Boy 66 voices.

^If anyone knows if these have been done, or are willing to take a crack at it, or give me a basic rundown of how to do it (best software, etc) Id be eternally grateful. If it's labor intensive and not something you'd do of your own volition Im even willing to pay for it. Let's use this tech to fill in those long-aggravating gaps, I say. If it's gonna kill the environment and take all our jobs we might as well get something good out of it

Though I love Roll Plymouth Rock from BWPS, love so much that DYLW snippet from the 2011 sessions that I even "completed" it for myself. I think the treatment of it by Dae Lims is one of the 2 greatest highlights in his AI SMiLE.
The second highlight is "Barnyard". The way Dae Lims makes the "Mike" vocals segue seamlessly into the "Barnshine" coda is GENIUS.
