Treasure Trove Of Beach Boys Radio Interviews From The Last 15+ Years
«
on:

On the recent Saturday when Howie Edelson appeared on his show for an interview, host Michael Shelley did a really cool thing and shared his archive of Beach Boys and Beach Boys related interviews which he had done on his show over the past 15 years or so. All of these are available below at the links, which will have a pop-up player for those who wish to listen. The commentary is what Michael himself posted during the show.
If there are any issues posting these, this will be removed.
But I want to recommend to everyone who listens to these to show some support for WFMU and consider making a donation, and start listening to shows like The Michael Shelley Show as regular listeners and supporters of the station. It's a non-commercial, not-for-profit station that relies on donations and listener support to produce their programs and broadcast/stream their shows. I guarantee if you listen, you'll hear records played and guests interviewed which you will not hear anywhere else on regular commercial radio.
Here's the link, consider making a donation to WFMU if you enjoy the content posted here, there is a "Donate!" icon at the homepage:

ALL MY BEACH BOY RELATED INTERVIEWS:
Mike Love - had limited time. Was flabbergasted at the blow back from anti-Mike people who thought I was "too easy" on him:

Brian Wilson
I only had five minutes
https://www.wfmu.org/playlists/shows/29380
Al Jardine
Al really wanted to promo his new release, but we still got some quality Beach Boy q&a in
https://wfmu.org/playlists/shows/102840
David Marks
From July 2007 (I think this is the best of the 3 w/ David)
https://www.wfmu.org/playlists/shows/24021
Billy Hinsche
Played in the touring BBs & Brian's band and his sister married Carl & we cover his years in Dino, Desi & Billy
https://www.wfmu.org/playlists/shows/27047
Hal Blaine
Drummer on so many great BB tracks
https://www.wfmu.org/playlists/shows/23609
Rocky Pamplin
Brian's bodyguard, who had an affair w/ Brian's wife - I found out he is a mostly disliked character in BB fan world
https://www.wfmu.org/playlists/shows/93892
John Cowsill
Current BB drummer, though this is mostly about his family band The Cowsills
https://www.wfmu.org/playlists/shows/26970
Carol Kaye
Bass player on a Pet Sounds, etc
https://www.wfmu.org/playlists/shows/23039
Ron Altbach
70s/80s Touring keyboard guy (in the Mike Love camp) - also plays that sweet electric piano into to "Dancin' In The Moonlight" by King Harvest
https://www.wfmu.org/playlists/shows/29782
Blondie Chaplain
100% unprepared interview... I was in the middle of my radio show and Blondie's manager called me and said Blondie (who sounds possibly tipsy to me) had a nearby gig that night, and did I want to talk with him... sure.

Carli Munoz
Touring BB band member and Dennis Wilson collaborator
https://www.wfmu.org/playlists/shows/71078

Adding to the list Howie Edelson's Interview from July 2:

NOTE: The interviews themselves often start roughly an hour into each program, but a handful of the records played are usually connected to the guest as you'll see at the links.
Enjoy!
