This is interesting topic, looks like. You listen to songs by different people & hear many interestingly structured/ lined-up songs. F.ex., I deem it really cool when song starts with, say, melody, next hi-hats start, next bass is joined etc. till everything else simultaneously. I’d like people bring songs with such steps. To begin & to give idea,

Nice idea, RR. The title's fine--the important thing is everyone knows what you mean. ;)
Captain Beefheart's "I'm Gonna Booglarize You, Baby" is the one I thought of first because of your mention of hi-hats.
1 - Guitar I (funky rhythm)
2 - Guitar 2 (slashes)
3 - Bass joins guitar 2
4 - Hi-hat, possibly snare
5 - Vocals

ISAAC HAYES' skills as a composer/arranger brought this concept to a high artistic place:

NOLA BB Fan:
Perhaps "Pass the Hatchet" by Roger and the Gypsies?
This was a regional hit back in the day. Good old fashioned 60s hometown funk.
