There is a great compilation out there called “Endless Bummer” and it is chock full of the band’s most dreadful moments.

I'll never forget the day I found Endless Bummer at a used record store in 2002. I picked it up and loudly said "WHAT?!?!?!?". I couldn't stop laughing at the song titles: Mike Sells Out, Mike Sells Out Again, Brian Hanging With Some Nerds, Kokomo Spanish Version Double Yuck!, I'm A Genius Too... It was the first time I heard Smart Girls. Definitely one of the weirdest cds I own.

Yep, I'm sorry.  I'm a huge Beach Boys fans, but I will never understand the fascination with these songs (or most of Smiley Smile or Love You).

If I had seen this picture before watching the movie in the 80s, I think I would have assumed that Bruce was the problem child.

  Very true! Nice touch that Bruce not only color-coordinated his varsity jacket but also his shoes with the Coleman cooler he's sitting on.

Seriously, that song and that image on that cover was part of the living hell of being a Beach Boys fan during that era and trying to explain how and why this was indeed the same band who made Pet Sounds. The stock answer would often be "ask the guy wearing the flat cap WTF is going on..."

Here's some six degrees of separation stuff.  The outfit Bruce is wearing is almost identical to what John Ritter wears at the climax in the movie Real Men.  Three years later, Ritter would star in Problem Child, which for one sequence, used the music theme from Real Men.

Just lump everything new the Beach Boys did from the "Kokomo/Baywatch" era together, say 1987 up to Stars & Stripes...take out the very few exceptions like the box set shows and some of the campfire scenes from that TV series they tried, label the multimedia compilation "Mike's Worst Shits", release it on a limited edition USB thumb drive to go with Mike's next tour program package, and call it a day.
