Just bought the new Slayer album "Christ Illusion", it´s their best since "Divine Intervention" and on par with their best releases from the 80´s and early 90´s (like "Hell Awaits", "Reign In Blood", "South Of Heaven", Seasons In The Abyss" and "Divine Intervention").
It sounds like they reduced everything to the max (you just can´t top the radical "Divine Intervention"), clear great stripped-down production (Josh Abraham; executive producer: Rick Rubin), and (as always) great riffs plus incredible tempo changes. The track sequencing of the album flows very well and with Dave Lombardo back on the drums the group sounds very sure of itself.
I mean, 2001´s "God Hates Us All" was a good album and an improvement on "Diabolus In Musica" from 1998 but here we got something we can add to their best work.
By the way: Anyone a Slayer fan here?
