That doesn't stop you from doing it.  But you've been straight forward tonight, and the information will assist me in some thinking I need to do.

Hey, I didn't say you had to get rid of the board! Smiley

I'm thinking that maybe the original meaning of the 2nd word in "TGIF" has long since been leached away by careless and inaccurate usage. No-one is literally offering up praises to their chosen deity for it being the day before Saturday. The word, indeed the phrase itself, is but useful verbal shorthand, in this case for "Great - weekend's here !"

Other opinions and semantic analyses are available, your mileage may vary, no purchase required.

I'd say it would be careless and inaccurate, IMO, to say no one is actually thanking God (or some other god) for Friday.

I've heard it as Thank Goodness its Friday.  In college it was often rerferred to as jif, a sort of verb or noun as in lets go to the jif at the bar or frat house or its been a long week, lets JIF!!!

Thus the playful visual nature of previous posts where occcasionally posted were visual examples of youthful, happy, people, (often lima) apparently having or preparing to have a good time.

I think folks get too uptight about something intended to evoke opposite (i.e. positive exuberance)  feelings.

Why are some folks so goshdarn antagonistic and  competitive?

Do you mean me, Donald?  I was the one who didn't like the pictures popping up unannounced.  I knew they were going to be in the Friday threads, and in other threads that were titled accordingly...that was never a problem for me.  And, truthfully, there are a lot worse problems in my life than coming across a picture of a nearly-naked beautiful woman unannounced.  I was never uptight about it, nor did i ever intend to come across as antagonistic or competitive - believe me, i can't compete with that!

But when Joe posted, "You can't complain about that," regarding one such unexpected photo, i had to respond that yes, i could.

No hard feelings...and i never meant for you to stop posting them altogether...

Antagonistic and competitive is in reference to the tone this thread was taking ....and in general to the negativity that seems to boil over all too frequently when folks are just simply fooling around, teasing a bit, or ingaging in some innocent banter. As for images, I've seen almost everything and anything, often unrelated to topic,  pop up in various threads on several of these boards.  Some people take every opportunity to turn simple dialogue into a pissing contest.   Not me.  I'm just havin fun!!!!
