Sloop John might be my least favorite song on Pet Sounds but I really appreciate it for how much is going on there musically.
I actually like listening to Brian do this song when he's older. He's really aged into verses like "I wanna go home... Let me go home...".

Sloop John B FIVE It's been described by some fans as the "sore thumb" of the album, and I guess I understand why, but I think it fits nicely on the LP. The vocal performance is out of this world, especially on the a cappella break. Pure gold.  |
