To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Funny, the opening line: "The group has hardly changed in two decades." Uh, yeah. Beach Boys 1961-81, no developments of note happened there. Same personnel, same sound, etc.

One of Brian's more lucid interviews/appearances...I wonder what THAT Brian would've said if you told him that one day he would be the father of six? police

Re: the "81" clip, it's most likely sometime in 1980, the opening with Brian signing a fan's autograph with a mouth full of food is from the England tour in June 1980...I know that for sure. Plus, Brian was much larger in 1981 and Carl wouldn't have been there.

Anyway, that clip is very interesting, I watched the bit where they go over "Hearts," they all lean right in around Brian as if it's 1961 again...also I think Brian would sound much like he does in this clip if he attempted the high part today. He's not bad here, but definitely far from good...

The footage is from 1980 but the actual news was shown 1981, I think. There is a part missing from the beginning where the reporter tells something about the anniversary. BTW I have always wondered if there is the whole concert out there from the bits arond 2:00.

I don't think this video for HCTN was posted before. At least I can't remember:

This is a Mike Love solo session, produced by Curt Boettcher (Becher), from around 1980/1981.

OK don't shoot me, but I think it is neat and catchy. I like it. I also have it on one of my many CDs I made.

Though I doubt it's so, it sounds like Marilyn is one of the backing vocalists.

I lasted exactly fourty seven seconds into the recording before shutting it off.

2:15, Bruce Johnston: "I just wanted to under-produce this album." Well, that didn't work.

This really doesn't have anything to do with The Beach Boys. I just wanted to poste  this and say, HOLY merda!  Shocked

*edit* Nevermind, I forgot to post the link.  Grin I forget the URL to it, anyway. It was a leg break video.

The best part of that footage doesn't seem to be included in the above broadcast. It's a clip of Al and Brian at a soundcheck. It goes something like this:

Brian: I'm tellin' ya Al, I think this show could really go....really be a good show

Al: You really think so?

Brian: Yeah. We're just that good.

And with that, Al laughs his head off.  Grin

I've added some of the best moments from the 'Summer Dreams' biopic.  Strangely, none of these classic  scenes had been Youtubed already!

Pretty sure the whole thing has been added and deleted quite a few times already. But hey, somebody's got to be the one to re-add it (before it's re-deleted), so thanks.
