My favorite radio station in Dallas (96.7 The Ticket) got to interview Brian Wilson.

Why do they refer to Melinda by her maiden name these days?

I was not impressed with the quality of the interview. Those guys didn't know too much and just came across as stuttering goofy fans and not as scholars or musical journalists. Brian made it clear that Mike agreed with him and they kept pressing and anti mike line of questioning. What  idiots.
As for Brian's saying  that he does  not think about Mike, that is so sad.

Has that been occurring regularly? I just started listening to this and was caught off guard by it. I assumed the interviewer just made an incorrect assumption and they didn't bother correcting him.

I haven't seen the picture they use on the soundcloud file before: sweet shirt!

Such a big fan,  "professor"..... Is Brian's name mis spelt twice to provoke? It diminishes the credibility of your comments./

Whoa, speaking of being caught off guard, when did the professor stop referring to himself in the third person?

That's because their specialty is not in music. It's a sports station. So I will give them a pass.

Yeah I wondered about that. I think half rheir info was from watching the movie, so they called her Ledbetter. Melinda was extremely nice by the way.

So you mean... they phoned the wrong Brian Wilson?

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

It diminishes nothing. That error results from using a voice recorder when typing is impossible.  I will correct the error, which was not intentional.

Two things:  Brian likes touring better now than in the 60's because he's had a lot of practice singing the songs.  Ohhhh-Kay; and, good grief, what a terrible picture of him to post with it!

Ha ha! Well, they don't talk sports half the time. It's kind of  like Howard Stern with a little sports talk thrown in! As someone who has listened to that station for 20 years, I thought it would be interesting to see how people here thought of the interview. Obviously they don't have the knowledge that most of us would have. But for casual fans, I thought they did ok.

Many things stand out. How and when did Melinda start getting even billing with Brian? Weird to me (you don't call Mike Love and have his wife honing in). It was my thought that brother Carl actually did more to get rid of Landy than anyone else (perhaps I'm wrong), since Melinda was not married to him during that time-it took family, like Carl, Audree and perhaps Mike. Speaking of Mike, Brian clearly doesn't want to talk about him...that's telling. Worth a listen to anyone reading this.

Nothing happened until Melinda (having been on the inside of what went on between Brian and Landy) convinced Carl to do something. Seeing Stan Love try to make a bid to be Brian's conservator probably hastened Carl's decision to act.
