Having seen Mike's band Sunday nite and Watching these videos of NPP I am struck with a sense that these guys are still competing intensely after all these years!  Both Brian and Mike are, regardless of your preferences, still working hard to put forth their best stuff and best performances in years.  Once again, as in recent years, a good time to be a Beach Boys fan.   these guys are like the competitive college boys who are still ribbing one another in their golden years.     Well, or so it seems to me of late..........( it's ok so let's enjoy while it lasts!  Wink

I agree, but be prepared for the barrage of insults to M&B.

Point is,   The competition, the thing these guys have had,  continues.     What was true then seems to be true now.   And these guys have played this out for years

One of 'em sounds like Mickey Mouse with a sore throat and the other one sounds like his nose is on the critical list.

If they are competing, does this mean Mike has new music coming out this year? Let me guess: "The Easter Bunny Goes to Kokomo". Is he recording some duets with other singers? "Summer in Paradise by the Dashboard Lights" with Meatloaf?

sorry I started this thread.   I don't know what I was thinking.      I had a moment of happy mania .   Oh well, back to negativity about Mr. positivity.

Seriously, Mike should get some new music out. "Cool Head, Warm Heart" was pretty nice.

I agree that Mike should put some new music out. I agree about "Cool Head, Warm Heart" and I also like the other song he released a few years ago, "Love Like in Fairytales." However, I think he's afraid of embarrassing himself with a new solo album and having it sell 14 copies. Because he knows that many people either dislike him or either don't know him outside of the Beach Boys. But regardless I think he should release some of the huge backlog of material he has stored away. There is at least a pretty good compilation's worth of material from Looking Back with Love and the unreleased First Love and Unleash the Love projects. Hopefully he does indeed put something out soon. I know he' considering recording so maybe there's a chance.

I would buy a comp of Mike's best material. I'm not really surprised he hasn't done it, though - he's the Beach Boys that's always talking about being commercial, selling a lot of records, and I'm sure he knows that even Brian's albums aren't big sellers these days.
