Weird thread.  Tongue

More stupid than weird.

Posting here implies we're both weird and stupid. It's a precondition to be a BBs obsessed fan  LOL

Stating/implying that Al has a better voice than the great Carl Wilson is equal parts weird and stupid.  On second thought, maybe more stupid than weird.  Smiley

Hey Little Tomboy is about a 30 year old man hitting on an under age lesbian

Now a couple of questions I've always had:
  • Why would Brian write about flying in an airplane when he was so afraid of flying? He makes the whole experience sound nice and easy. Is it really about an acid trip?

And who has ever said Brian was afraid of flying, aside from you ? He had a breakdown on a plane in flight, true, but that was nothing to do with the act of flying. The lack of basic BB knowledge on this board dismays me sometimes.

He does have a better voice than Dennis and would have been interesting to hear him sing IBHN...anyways, that's my weird and stupid opinion - I'm sure you have yours

Surely I am not the only one who wants to know if this is fact or fiction. We thrive on getting trivia clarified here so I'm asking?

As I asked on the locked thread....As I don't have this Stebbins book, what is the exact wording? Was it from a Brian interview or an opinion?

'Fear of flying' and 'not liking flying' are two different things.

As AGD says...What it was isn't what you thought it is, because it is what it is, because you claim so, because you confirm it, because you insist that it is what it is. And therefore, it ain't what it ain't.

So the wording in Jons book please. Anyone?

The link to the exact wording is provided by Cincinnati Kid in the locked thread.

It's a bit ambiguous as to whether Stebbins himself believes it.

To respond here...

I don't monitor this place 24/7: I work and contrary to popular belief, I do have a life, or something closely resembling one. Thus, if I don't respond straight away, I'm not ignoring you, unless the post and/or the poster require ignoring. Further, the currently locked thread could and should have been a PM, but of course that wouldn't have any success in trying to make me look petty or foolish (and here's a hint for the future: you're trying too hard - wait a while and I'll do it for you, with much more effect and panache).

So, had you sent me a PM with the info about Jon's book, I'd have said in (private) response what I'm saying here: thanks for that and I stand corrected. Not read that book for over four years. That said, Brian evidently got over his dislike of flying sometime after 1964, and in any event, it wouldn't automatically disqualify him from writing about the topic, nor does it in any slightest way indicate the song is actually about an acid trip.

Final observation: if you think I was being aggressive in my reply, I'm guessing you've not been reading this board that long. Grin

No ebook version available or option to sample when I use the link. Maybe my location.

I got that from the physical book. As Schaffino says, it's at the start of chapter 12.

Fair enough, Mr. Doe. I hope not to have a similar misencounter with you in the future; but if ever its the case, I will PM you.
