More from The Birthday Party. This is "King Ink", featuring one of the nastiest bass lines ever, from their 1981 album

I grew up in the 80's and I was and still am a big fan of 80's hard rock / hair metal.
Favorite Albums:
Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet & New Jersey are awesome albums. They were my soundtrack of summers spent in the Jersey Shore between 86 through 91.
Aerosmith, Permanent Vacation & Pulp.
Warrent, Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinking Rich
Poison, Open Up and Say... Aah! & Look What The Cat Dragged In
Ratt, Out of the Celler & Invasion of Your Privacy.
Def Leppard, Pyromania & Hysteria.
Motley Crue, Dr Feelgood
Europe, The Final Countdown. I must have been 6 or 7, and I was over a friends house checking out his older brothers record collection. My friend puts on this record, cranks the volume up, and turns off the lights. The music filled the room and I felt like I was blasting into outer space. It was an incredible experience, and I can still closes my eyes and remember that feeling when I listen to it. I love the title track so much I walked out to it at my wedding reception.
Skid Row, self titled
Guns N Roses, Appetite for Destruction & Lies.
Van Halen, 1984
Singles:
Twisted Sister, We're Not Gunna Take It & I Wanna Rock.
Quiet Riot, Cum On Feel The Noize
Cinderella, Don't Know What You've Got Till Its Gone.
Whitesnake, Here I Go Again
Great White, Once Bitten Twice Shy
White Lion, When the Children Cry
Scorpions, Rock You Like a Hurricane.
L.A. Guns, The Ballad of Jayne
Winger, Seventeen
Tesla, Little Suzi
Joan Jett, I Love Rock & Roll
Billy Idol, Rebel Yell & White Wedding.
Rolling Stones, Start Me Up & Undercover of the Night.

Hi SNJ. That's an impressive list! My one brush with '80s hard rock/hair metal was indeed Europe's "The Final Countdown", which my son bought at the time. Powerful stuff.
I was more into music by Gary Numan, Talk Talk, Human League and others...

Thx JK. I'm not familiar with those bands, I'll check them out, as well as some of the other artists and songs mentioned in this thread.

Recently listened to Billy Idol's "Eyes Without Face" - got Halloween style to it. Listened to Toto's "Africa" - intro/riff, without reasons, makes me laugh, there's sth. funny about it, zero clue what the song's even about. These'd be 2 1980s discoveries.

Heard this great '80s song just now in a new Dutch TV series (which wasn't up to much) and was reminded of this long-forgotten thread:

I discovered this exciting performance yesterday in a playlist devoted mainly to music by Alexander Yakovlev and darkish stuff from former Yugoslavia. From 1988, these are Alyans and "Give Fire!"

Julian Lennon just turned 59
I had totally forgotten about his 1984 album, Valotte. Just listened to the title track plus a few others. Pretty good stuff.

I missed this first time round. I'm unacquainted with Julian's music, E, so thank you for posting this! That title track is pretty cool:
