I don't know how much media attention Phil Rudd has been getting overseas with his recent troubles but here at least it's fairly big news. He's lived in the same town as me for more than 25 years and is not a big deal to anyone, apart from high-end car dealers and those involved in a particular 'profession'.  When I see him around I often think of Dennis especially when I see Rudd cruising with a blonde in some expensive car or hanging out in a burger bar or something with several young ladies. The last few months of his life appears to publically spiralling out of control. I'm not implying for a moment that Dennis was involved with any illegal activity but in Rudd we have a very talented musician who is estranged from his band who are clearly exasperated by his on-going behaviour. Rudd has his 'hangers-on' some very well meaning and trying everything to help the guy  and others merely along for the ride.

By all accounts Dennis was very strong willed and nobody could help him until he wanted to help himself. What do you do with guys like Dennis and Phil? Clearly cutting off or reducing Dennis' money supply didn't work but then throwing money at the problem might have amplified the problem. Perhaps with Dennis it was simply his time to go. Regardless, for a mere mortal like myself, seeing guys like Dennis and Phil, so ridiculously talented, extremely wealthy (in Phil's case at least) and good looking to boot (definitely not the case with Phil) throw it all away beggars belief. So sad.

So sad indeed. I didn't realize how bad things were for Phil. I haven't much followed his recent conviction. A friend of mine told me that the charges were dropped. Not sure if that's true or not. Hopefully Phil won't take the same path our beloved Dennis took.

The charges relating to trying to procure a murder have been dropped.

Still has a 'threatening to kill' charge which is still pretty serious, among others.
